8800GT Ramblings Thread

I just hope the revised 8800 gts is priced more sensibly :D ,,as in closer to the expected price ,, as after all these cards are still good value,, but not that good to warrant that we pay over the top for them.

Well as usual I will have to wait until they drop the rpice to around 'what was expected'.

Seems about £25-30 over atm to me.

i knew the 8800gt was going to be around £180, because overclockers lowered the price of the 8800gts320 to £176 recently (not sure if it was this weekend).

They wont drop quick, look how long it was till the 8800GTS 640mb went from £250 down to £210'ish for the stock versions, about 6 months after Nov 06 release iirc? Took about the same for 320mb versions to start dropping a tad, expect more of the same imo.

yes, and how many 8800gts's did nvidia make?

vendors probably cant drop the price down to £150 (i assume they buiy their gear upfront with cash)

Well I'm looking for an upgrade for my 7900GT @ GTX, but I'm going to wait and see what ATI has to offer in a few weeks, then make a decision.

The prices will need to lower as well before I consider buying.

Sadly this hasn't affected folk selling GTSs on, I've seen 3 up so far. £195, £200 and £210 + 10 delivery.

Almost makes me want to sell mine with greed like that circulating.

I think these are priced right.
They're the same price as the 320mb GTS which performs worse.
They need to drop the GTS (both of them) to below this card, but to do that & price this card less you're talking sub £100 for a brand new 320 GTS... Then where do the 8600's etc fit in..?

They need to drop the 320mb one to £120ish, the 640mb one to £145ish & keep this one as is...

Ordered mine, should go nicely with my q6600 i ordered a couple weeks ago, decided on the Evga Superclocked.

Thank god for credit cards :p

According to Anandtech, the 3800's are slower than the 2900's, so effectively downgrades. :D

if its less powerful then the 2900 then its going to be pritty poor in games as *** 2900 isn't really doing that well and its going to have to cost significantly less then the GT. They are already beating the 8600 why are they sending more cards that way?

Does it matter which brand you get - essentially they're all the same right(some with higher clocks though)?

Would it matter if you got a; Inno 3d, Gigabyte, Asus, XFX, BFG, OCUK, etc

Yes and no really Evga and Bfg are more desirable when it comes to a resale, although recently i found out that evga warranty's are not transferable and you must register the card within one month of purchase or you lose the 10 year warranty and only get 1 years i think BFg is the only way to go now.
The only thing that is better will be the warranty imo as all the coolers look exactly the same.

And I don't understand why the coolers are all the same if you pay a premium for a pre flashed overclocked card then the only point of doing so will be to get the better cooling.
