8800GT Ramblings Thread

Does it matter which brand you get - essentially they're all the same right(some with higher clocks though)?

Would it matter if you got a; Inno 3d, Gigabyte, Asus, XFX, BFG, OCUK, etc

Nope, only difference would be the warranty and what gets bundled with the card.

Bfg and Evga are both *** best in my eyes. I choose BFG over evga because they are cheaper for the higher clocks generaly and ahve the life time warrenty and the 48 hour rma with ocuk i beleive. But evga also have very good customer support. XFX customer support is non existant, if it goes wrong it can take a while to get a replacement. Dont know much about the others.

I love my 7800 GT, is an 8800 GT going to give me much extra performance, after all the 7800 GT is over 2 years old now.

Get the cheapest you can find that fills your needs if

(A) you don't mind waiting a random amount or a long time on an rma
(B)you don't plan on keeping it long

If the above bothers you and you want a fast rma and a long warranty get a bfg or evga.

Nah no extra performance, your 7800GT will run Crysis maxed out no problems. :o

(God how can you ask such a stupidly obvious question)

No no who told you that BFG and eVGA are by far the best brands these days in the gpu market.

Thing with GFX cards is if you need to RMA you do it with the online etailor when its in the 12 month period.

Just like mobo's

Who has a GFX card longer than 12 months

At the end of the day they are all the bloody same underneath the sticker on the cooler.

I bought a leadtek 8800 GTS cause it was cheap...Guess what ? It clocked more than the BFG it replaced.

Branding imo is hype.

Just get the cheapest..

At this price point who cares about resale its a throw away card

Cheaper but RMA'ing would be an nightmare. Not worth the minor savings.

hmm not really minor though. I can get a Zotac for the proper release price and I just bought a 700/1700/2000 for £170 inc so i'm prepared to take the gamble for what is at least a £40 saving atm

Then why did you buy the BFG 8800 gts ? you are right but if it does go wrong i would rather have a 48 hour turn around through a retailer than a 6 week turnaround if that doesn't bother you get the cheapest.
Wel worth the extra to buy a bfg from here if the 48 hour rma is true.
