8800GT Ramblings Thread

It comes with 8 ramsinks and a VRM heatsink made to fit the 1950pro... I cut that VRM heatsink up and used two bits as ramsinks and then used the two actual ramsinks that were left for the VRMs.

If that makes any sense

Used 169.02 drivers - no problems.
Thinks - new'ish card maybe further speed boost due when drivers optimsed ? or wishful thinking?

The 1950pro VRM heatsink was cut up and used on the remaining memory chips.

[edit] by the way I modded a few cards before but I used that Arctic Silver thermal epoxy to attach some BGA ramsinks, obviously its a one way ticket but boy were those suckers held on tight!

I know its a worry that if you do a permanent mod and something happens to the card your stuffed with the warranty but this actually happened to one of the card I modded after 10 months and I got it rma'ed no problem. Hmm having said that I was able to re-attach the stock (9800Pro) heatsink but you wouldn't be able to do that with these 8800GTs. . . hmmmm?

Makes me dissapointed to see that my 2900 beaten my 8800GT in TDU, its the only game like lol but weird why do 8800's perform like crap in TDU? evwn my GTS did.

Does AA work in Bioshock with NV cards? I set it all to high settings, 1680x1050, 16xAA/AF in Bioshock, looked smooth as out and was belting along!, these cards are surpassing themselves now!.

Many thanks again Si for checking the card for me. For everyone else it appears that the board (Abit AN-M2HD) doesn't support the 8800gt. For anyone getting a black screen from powerup, it's probably the mobo not the card DOA.
