Hard to say, it says it has 2 12v rails but only lists one amperage (18a) which would struggle with the 8800GT.

What wattage is it?

The only info I can find on them having dual 12v rails is the 700w model so I would assume yours only has a single rail.

Have you got any extra HDs, optical drives etc. that you can unplug to lower the power usage?

Depends on the rest of your system, mine is running fine on a 500w Akasa with 2 HDs and an e6300 @ 2.8ghz. A corsair 450w VX or 520w HX would likely handle any system with a single 8800gt.

Can anyone please recommend me a cheap(ish) am2 motherboard from ocuk that will definately work with the 8800gt?
I am torn between the Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe, or the cheaper MSI K9N Neo V3. Help definately needed before I splooge on another useless board lol.

im running 2 overclocked on a 550watt antec trio. overclocked quad as well, these dont use much power at all under load

I wouldn't buy a Thermaltake PSU, they're ok but hardly up there with the best. It would run it fine but I would get a Corsair myself.

Thermaltake make some of the best PSUs around currently, look at their toughpower 1000w range, the reviews are universally good.

couldnt get my system to boot without my optical drives v.strange, turned them off in bios as well, I disconnected my 2nd hd and usb card reader and got about another 100 points with card clocked ,so looks like I need a new decent psu have too wait till after crimbo damn.

I take it you have tried the card in the other O/C uk member that ofered you to try the card in their pc, and have assertained your card to be fine then.
If so at least you know where the problem is.

Unfortunately the GT use the same U501 PWM control as the G80. Can't see the bios controlling vcore, circuitry just isn't there, it'll need the hard mod.

I got it from OcUK but they certainly havent messed with it as it was shrinkwrapped. Im guessing it was done by BFG before the packing process
