Just an update to this: I got a reply back from OcUK and they said they have no idea when this product is due in now, so I've cancelled my order. :( Not because of the ETA problem, but because I might as well wait and see what the new GTS is like rather than running around and trying to get hold of one of these.

I've just not heard of it at all, and I havnt mustered up to the enthusiasm to google it to find out 'cos it sounds rubbish, and I have 2 copies now lol. Now why didn't it come with Gears of War or COD4 instead? :p
 
Every card I have ever owned has come in bubble wrap, normally pink (all the way back to a Ti-4200). It's just to protect the card, although they also came in antistatic bags.

I've just managed to speak to someone from EVGA by email and asked him if I could still get the 10 year warranty on my GTS (forgot to register). He said no but:

'By EU law, the minimum product warranty is two years.'

I said so if this card breaks in 14 months time EVGA will promise to repair or replace the card? He said:

'Yes, of course we will!'

Yea they are disgusting nowhere in the product description box or warranty info in the manual does it state you must register within 30 days of purchase to get the warranty ! absolute scam if you ask me i am considering taking this to trading standards.
I have sent a strongly worded email to the european support center asking them where on my box manual or site where i purchased it does it say i must register in 30 days still have no reply.So basically lets all break our non registered evga cards within 2 years of purchase to get a replacement ?

It says on their site.
 
And ? your point being ? It should say on the box or in the manual so you know to register within 30 days as one just presumes you can register it whenever you like within 10 years as long as you have proof of purchase with the date i don't see what difference the 30 day thing makes other than a devious way to catch people out.

Hi C64,

You have a great point and I think you are correct however I would suggest you calm down a bit ;)

Obviously at the moment its a case of "read the small print" but it is pretty straight forward if you read their site. . .


  • All EVGA Products purchased ON or AFTER November 1, 2006 MUST be registered within 30 days from ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE to receive limited lifetime warranty. (All products not registered within 30 days will ONLY receive a 1 year limited warranty.)

  • EVGA Limited Lifetime Warranty

A quick fix would be to include this information on a piece of paper that gets packed with the cards, thats not so hard for them to do but the real good question would be why do they do this in the first place? I have a few graphics cards that come with a 3 year warranty as standard and afaik I don't have to do anything special to make use of that?

I wasn't aware of that European law thingy though?

Its a great game and exactly the sort of thing I'm into, I am also suprised to see that some people never heard of it!

There are a lot of games that have passed through this genre (Diablo/2 - Baldurs Gate - Guild Wars) but the thing that is different about Neverwinter nights is its based of a board-game that dates back years and years called 'Dungeons & Dragons'. I played D&D a lot when I was younger, of course there were no home computers around then of worth.

We all sat around a table with a bunch of lead figures and many sided dice, drank 15 bottle of coca cola and stayed up all night exploring monster filled dungeons and hoping we'd find some good magic items!

I am perfectly calm the reason they do it is obvious so they don't have to give warranty for half the cards they sell.

There is no such small print anywhere either in the manual on any card in the box or on any retail outlet selling their cards or anywhere on the box saying you must register within 30 days.

Only on their site does it say this so let us say you buy a card and don't have the internet you have no way of knowing you must register within 30 days or indeed registering your product.

Imo by law they should be required to make it plainly obvious or at least in small print that you only get 1 years warranty if not registering card within 30 days,after all the 10 year warranty is a big selling point of theirs.

I truly see no purpose for the 30 day registration clause to exist other than to deceive people and get away with a 1 year warranty.
There is no difference in someone registering their product within the 30 day clause and getting an rma and someone who doesn't register but still has the proof of purchase with date with matching serial numbers.

Get the GT, Sell the 2900xt and my 360 + games + accessories ( Which i dont use no more tbh got bored ), Also sell my E6600 and Mobo.

With cash raised buy a Q6600 and a New P35/X38 Mobo. And keep the rest ( If theres anything left :p )

I agree as I see no reason to have this? :confused:. Is BFG fine for warranty? (as in no hidden 30 days to sign up).

So you pay the premium for an extended warranty and peace of mind but if you've no internet and your card messes up after a year then that's your own fault for not having the internet?. Can't do that man :eek:. I would completely lose it if someone at EVGA turned around and said that they wouldn't accept my card for this reason.
