8800GT Ramblings Thread

I got NWN2 with my gigabyte GT, never installed it, is it worth playing?

Role playing is for when your in the bedroom. Not in a bloomin' computer game :o.

I hate these games with a passion. Pure anti-action. Long live FPS, strategy games like WiC, C&C3 and the beloved sports titles (Pro Evo, NHL etc).

Yea they plaster 10 years everywhere but don't include in any paperwork inside the box or on sites that sell you it about the 30 day limit.
I am afraid that in the circumstance you described above this would indeed be the case.
So until you actually go to register your card you have no idea of any such 30 day clause.

Not a good move (and a weird one at that) for a successful company to do this. I hope they change it as I feel that is terribly misleading.

Don't sign up in 30days and lose 90% of your warranty but thank you for buying EVGA .

Someone's obviously not played The Witcher! :p

Role playing action game?. Ahh  a crossbreed!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :). As long as I don't have to chat to everyone in the game to find things out then I'm game to try it.

What's it like?.

You do have to talk to a lot of people and go through quite a lot of dialogue so you might hate it, but it's such an awesome game. It's so awesome that I've not played the Crysis demo yet, put it that way. :o

Well I just seen the video from the website and it looks more spankingly gorgeous than a chicken and mushroom pot noodle. I think on the lack of Crysis demo playing on your part that it's got you immersed. I think I might just have to try this one out.

If I want AA then I best sell up and get a GT. I should do it 2moro as I've still got one of my m8's GTX's and he told me tonight to keep it until Christmas as he's giving it to his 9 year old kid so no having to go back to the 9800Pro for me :D. It's not half bad for his 1st PC lol especially with 2gb of Dominator and an E6600 @ 3.4Ghz.

I might hang on for the new GTS. Any rough dates for the release of the new cards?.

A 8800GT card on its own has a recommended retail price of $250 =£120 British pounds + VAT = £141 anything more is just price hiking due to high demand and lack of stock. Give it a 3 weeks and supply have increased then the price war will begin.

As for Some e-tailors inflating the prices on pre orders, God only knows! People will just cancel and buy somewhere else.

tis very true due to high demand and anywhere with stock selling out instantly etailers pretty much have the upper hand here why should they sell them at £140 if they can get £170-£180 and sell out in minutes.

Aye that's true. These people are running businesses, not charities, and the only way they'll lower their prices is if there is no demand for the product. In the end it comes down to people putting their money where their mouth is. If they don't like the price, they should wait a bit and buy it when the price comes down instead.

My BFG GT OC was delivered yesterday - it's a great card, just what I've been looking for to replace my GTS which was rather squashed in my SFF case.

So far, overall, it's only really a tad faster than my old OC'd GTS, but there are certain areas where it really shines. Crysis so far seems to have gained a small boost, as do Source based games. Hellgate London seems to really love this card though, feels like almost 25% faster at times, which surprised me. Going to do some more testing on that tonight! Still need to run 3D Mark, too.

Temperatures are quite warm, under load it's about the same as my old GTS (Around 80'C), but it idles and lot cooler which is nice. Considering putting an aftermarket cooler on it if load temps get worse or don't improve when I tinker with it.

Anyone know what coolers fit on this thing? Looking at the Titan Elena and a few others, but mostly just out of curiosity, probably won't end up swapping it because I'm lazy.

Have you never played Morrowind, or Oblivion?
I thought those games had already attracted most fps 'action' gamers to try out role-playing.
