8800GTS 320MB Results so far....

IV just set the card @ 100% fan speed there, now its audible :D

Not too loud or anything tho thats the thing, its taken my idle tempt down to the 50degrees mark! I may keep it on 100% during gaming since its inaudible due to the sound :D

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my scores? Just picked up a BFG 8800GTS the other day and it's running at the out of box clocks (550/800). 3dmark06 scores as follows:

3DMark Score 5401 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 3464 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 2948 Marks
CPU Score 759 Marks

Running it on a x2 4400, 1gb ram.

Even more worrying than the above, getting really bad stutters in nearly everything, HL2, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander etc. Any ideas what's going on? Pretty disappointed to be honest as CoH in particular actually seems worse than on my old 7800GT!

Oh and is this normal for a x2 4400?!
CPU1 - Red Valley 0.238 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 0.386 FPS

Thats not right, should be over 7k with that CPU, you got everything set to performance, made sure AA/AF is set to Application Controlled, and have you got enough PSU power, you may be getting stuttering due to only having 1gb, as you really need 2gb these days.

Yeah definitely on application controlled both in the main nvidia control panel window and the program specific settings for 3dmark06.

I know 1gb isn't enough but I had to change motherboards yesterday as the old one blew up(!) and the temporary one I've got in only has 2 memory slots hence limited to 1gb currently.

Any other cpu specific test I could run to confirm I've got a problem with it?

Edit: Sorry and it's def. not a power problem as I've just splashed out on a new Tagan 580w jobbie after the old one couldn't hack the new gfx card. Has been an expensive week!

I think your CPU score of 759 Marks (if using 3Dmark 06) is too low for a x2 4400, I was getting over 800 using a P4 3.4GHz N/wood. :)

Agreed, something up with the cpu looks like. You should be getting close to 1 fps on the cpu tests in '06. Have you installed the AMD dual-core driver?

Your not the only one mate. Although looking at your cpu score the stuttering is probably unrelated to my problem. However, I was getting severe stuttering in every game I played inc FEAR, Farcry, COD1+2, Call of juarez, Prey, BF2, BF2142, HL2+EP1 and DOD source. It's almost as if Nvidia have only perfected the drivers to run problem free on 3DMark. Anyway, the stuttering got on my nerves to the point that I have already broken my 1 week record before selling a brand new card, which at the time was a 7800GTX xxx 512MB. Yes folks, 2 days old and my spanking new GTS 320MB = sold. :D

BTW I did a google search and it seems there is a few people experiancing stutter problems with 8800 cards...

Well, looks like I'll be buying one of these today, along with thbe DS£ mobo and E4300. Hopefully arriving Tuesday.

How much you reckon a DFI Lanparty UT & 6800GS would make on eBay?

Just reinstalled the dual core drivers and killed cool n quiet. Seems to have made a bit of an improvement still not there yet. I'm out of ideas now :(

3DMark Score 6495 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 3448 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 3519 Marks
CPU Score 1065 Marks

CPU1 - Red Valley 0.367 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 0.494 FPS

I think the only part of your score that is low is the CPU part. Check on the Orb for what other people are getting with one of those cards and I suspect you'll see about the same sort of 3D scores. I'm quite sure that CPU score should be several hundred higher though, which would put your final score closer to 7k.

No, all at stock.

Agree the score on the cpu should be several 100 higher, but can't think what else can actually be making a difference. As mentioned, I've reinstalled the drivers for it and it's running nice and cool (around 35C).

Everything seems fine except the cpu score of course. Running through some obvious things:

- have you installed the motherboard drivers?
- have you ensured there is no other cpu intensive task runing when you you do the 3DMark run?

Here's my 3DMark score with a 7900GT. My X2 running at 2.65Ghz gets 1943 Marks. My cpu is about 400Mhz faster than yours of course so your score is getting there but still should be a bit higher.

Very odd, i ran 06 again last night, and now my SM2.0 score is correct, was 3.1 summit before, but now its correct at about 3.8 summit, which is in line with the SM3.0 one, either that or i read it wrong at first. :D

Thanks for the suggestions. Reinstalled the via 4 in 1 drivers but score has got even lower now, back to 749 for the CPU test! Definitely nothing else running in the background either.

Right,

Installed my new BFG GTS OC yeaterday and decided to run 3d Mark 06 today just to see the score. I was expecting about 10k points with my rig (see sig) and was pretty upset with the score I got...
