970's having performance issues using 4GB Vram - Nvidia investigating

So OcUK are accepting returns of 970s regarding the memory issue? Good on them. First class customer service right there.

As someone who bought 2 X MSI 970s a few months back, I'd probably have taken you up on that offer as I frequently hit over 3.5gb of VRAM usage at my monitors native res (1440p).

Is it just straight up RMAs or can affected buyers get a % off an upgrade to a 980 instead of full returns? :3 yes I'm being cheeky sorry Gibbo lol. I was eyeing an EVGA 980 SC ;)

I wonder how many of those don't actually own an nVidia card...

I imagine there might be some who don't own any video-card but vote purely out of a dislike for false advertisement.

I've been buying Nvidia since the 8800GTX days, bought Titan's all the latest stuff. After this I have no intention to give Nvidia any more of my money purely on the principle. The way they have dealt with this is awful, no customer consideration whatsoever. I don't own a GTX 970 either, I still feel this way.

False advertisement is false advertisement. Will not support it.

The box says 4gb on it....the card has....4gb on it. May be a different story if the box had the rop count and L2 cache amount on it but it doesn't.

Granted 0.5gb of it doesn't perform as well as the other 3.5gb, but that's besides the point, it still, physically has 4gb of vram.

how much faster is it than system ram? :o
rly i duno! lol

The people that do support it are just opening the gate for companies to follow suit, its the same with PC games, they are released in a poor state and sometimes, not always fixed later down the line, I stopped buying games on release at full price for this reason but people are still happy to pay in full for unfinished products and now this.

It really does show the state of PC gaming for me, I was about to part out my PC and get a console but I cant do it, I'm just going to stick to being extra careful with what I buy

Seems to me that not a lot of people seem to be that bothered....6k people is tiny in response

Yup, and that's exactly what Nvidia is hoping for. For this to just blow over, as the sites have reported. Nvidia managed to contact it's website affiliates for statements, basically damage control. But what have Nvidia done for their customers that feel duped? Nothing. That's what I can't understand. Totally put me off them.

I signed it, if this is what it is coming to I will only be buying old cheap parts. I will not be supporting companies that lie about the specs of products, was thinking of getting G-Sync and a Nvidia GPU at some point down the line when I upgraded but I don't think I will bother.

I think they will do something...I've got a feeling there will be gtx 970 recall and they will offer everyone a gtx 980

Yeah right !

Refunds only, we're doing way more on this subject than any competitor who are point blank refusing to accept RMAs. :)

Don't believe you.

lol i dont either!

Haha :D

No this really has put me off them, literally just washed their hands of it and no support to their customers.

I won't support false advertising from any company. I don't understand why they have dealt with this so badly, they could have turned it around but urm no, they didn't do anything lol.

Oh well, lets' hope AMD's next lot of cards are good. There is only 1 GPU vendor in my eyes now. Nvidia are in the same category as Apple for me now, just not interested.

AMD and Samsung ftw !! :p
