MSI cannot refund you and they will not refund you. You need to get the refund from your retailer, they need to support you and do as you say. Just push them harder, I can only apologise that they are making it so difficult for you. :(

For the card from us, request an RMA and you shall be given one hassle free. :)

Thanks for your prompt reply and advice Gibbo.

Its greatly appreciated.:)

Finally got both my 970's refunded and purchased a 980 for main rig and a 280x for my htpc. Cannot thank OCUK enough over this matter. May they continue to impress. On a sideline it appears that like many have said all along 970 still a fab card (I just got scared with 970 sli) .

My refunds have been processed so should see the pennies in bank soon . Just stuck in what to do . It's gonna cost upwards of 800 notes regardless of wether i choose 2 x 980s or 2 x 290x 8gbs and bigger PSU . Any likely hood of a decent 980 hitting 400(again) ?

The only place you would need that VRAM is 4k under extreme conditions. Right now 4gb is enough as the GPU core power will see you dropping settings before you run out of vram any way.

Me? I would take the cheap option. Pair of Powercolors for less than £400, then thrash the crap out of them.

Simple fact is that no solution right now is really ideal for 4k. That won't come about until we get enough juice on one card to run the games, with two being a nice boost.

However I agree with Custom PC in their hardware choice, right now the best solution for 4k is a 295x2 or a pair of 290s.

The annoying thing is that I paid extra to upgrade my MATX mobo to the best SLI/Crossfire one for a 2700k.

My case and PSU can't handle 290/xs in Crossfire, so the 970s were the planned nirvana... now my only option is to SLI 980s, as even the 380xs will be too hot in my case :/

Hi Gibbo.

Can I firstly just say what fantastic customer service you are providing with regards to the GTX970 refunds.

I would really appreciate some help please as I purchased two MSI 4G GTX970's. One from C?L (popular Etailer in Bradford) and one from ocUK.

I read in an earlier post that MSI have given you the backing to refund GTX970customers. However, when approaching C?L Returns for a possible refund of one of the GTX970's they came back with this message below.

"Thank you for your message, I am very sorry to hear you wish to return your item, Nvidia have advised us to refer any customers that wish to return their item for a refund to the manufacturer of the card, which in your case is MSI. Please find the details for MSI below; http://uk.msi.com/about/contact-us"

I am puzzled as to how MSI can possibly refund me when my purchase was with the etailer?

Thank you :)

I also bought my Asus strix from c?l computers.I phoned them today and they said they will contact Asus and ask them if I can RMA the card for that reason. They are getting back to me tomorrow. I will update you with what they tell me. Cheers

Have to say, OcUK's customer service has been impressive. Even tho I didn't buy a 970, reading this thread makes me more likely to buy my 3?0 here. If they ever get released ;)

But, I think there needs to be some kind of Haribo guarantee, to seal the deal...

I always get Haribos .. or am I special? (doubt it)

get another case...... because another case + 290 CF is still cheaper than SLI 980s ............and maybe with a new PSU as well

This is why I only get my kit here
Was hoping to see some b grade 970s on sale, or am I too mercinary

edit, just seen the answer after I posted. shame

@ocuk..

Heres my story :)

I've been a customer with a certain bolton company from back when they were in little lever and selling out of a shed. This was a great many years ago, and I've been a loyal customer with them because they've never let me down. This is mostly because I've never had to call on them for support and things have just worked.

A few years ago I had a problem with a motherboard, 6 months after I had it they gave me a refund, this further strengthened my resolve in resisting other etailers and I stuck with them for every single purchase.

I've always said you find out how good a company is when the poop hits the fan, every company can look good at the point of sale, its when you need them that you see their true face.

So here we are, this 970 debacle has happened, and I have a (just) over 2 week old 970 G1. Said company isnt too keen on me returning it, citing that they are waiting on Gigabyte to let them know what to do. In stark contrast I read about how OCUK are dealing with the matter and my socks are well and truley blow clear across the room.

I can assure you that based on what I've read here I'm going to be a customer of OCUK going forward. Just need to work on the forums to get free P&P as I did with the "other" company :)

What me and others like me read on here does shape opinion and whilst we are small time buyers, like my dad says, the ocean is made of drops ;)

So I hope S**n do the right thing, if they dont its no big deal, it doesn't change the fact that loyalty is VERY hard to gain but so easy to lose. They've lost me as a customer for life and I will buy from OCUK instead of them, even if they refund me. They've lost me and countless others like me.

As someone earlier said, you cant even post on their forums are registrations are not working, they are useless when we need them the most.

This is my personal opinion and I stand by it.

Keep doing what you are doing OCUK, people are noticing what you do, the OCUK of old with the horror stories is long gone, and clearly you've risen like a Phoenix, testament to this is on trusted reviews you've CRUSHED the other guys, the people have spoken loud and clear.

p.s.

I only registered to say this, its important you know.

Amen.

Power usage on the 290's is a good bit higher on average so more heat will be dumped into the case. At load my card never goes past 65oc. I don't know how loud the card actually is as my cpu fan is louder yet not overly loud. I reckon my PC would be pretty quiet if i changed out the fan on my cpu cooler.

I am not saying people should change over to a 290/x as we all have different needs and some may be better of sticking to Nvidia. It's just to many people seem to think the 290's run hot and loud which is not the case apart from the reference cooler and maybe the odd cooler that's not seated properly. Amd really shot themselves in the foot with the reference cooler which has tarred the cards with a bad rep.

thanks good to know this info was unaware, frankly I game very little and at 1080p and love the strix 0db its still the best gpu I have ever owned even if it is 3.5gig or what not.

Give it another 6-12 months and whole process will repeat with ATI or Nvidia new gpu lol
