Abramovich & Chelsea + a bit of Everton

I think you’re being extremely over optimistic about the Ukraine situation.

I'm not convinced Russia can sustain many months of increasingly severe sanctions. Their only trump card looks to be getting nullified currently and they are basically ruined without it. Anyway, thats rather off topic!

Maybe, just maybe, the way the definition of "fit and proper person" needs to be looked at bit more closely when deciding who can buy a club.

There is so much filthy money in football, this was always going to happen, it just happened to be Chelsea.

Seems like the club can still be sold, just not by Roman. There's plenty of rich people interested so I wouldn't get too excited about Chelsea's demise just yet.

Still funny though, can just picture the chelsea squad on a ryanair flight and heading to their hostel before a big European night :D

Where did you read that? Roman’s the owner, it’s his property. It cannot be sold.

"They can pay "reasonable" costs of travel to and from fixtures but not exceeding £20,000 per game per team."
£20k is actually a pretty small sum, I mean there is 18 players in a CL matchday squad, no idea how many staff they take with them but I assume with all the medical staff, coaches, admin bods etc etc they maybe have a travelling contingent of say 40 meaning an average of £500 travel expenses per person per match. So for some destinations in Europe very much slumming it in economy.

10:26 here https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/60688168 by Laura Scott. Not sure how the Government would decide where the proceeds go without it being challenged in the courts , "
Today’s sanctions against Roman Abramovich and the licence that’s been drawn up for Chelsea does, at the moment, halt any prospect of a sale.

However, the BBC understands that the government is open in the future to considering a licence that would permit the sale of the club, but that would have conditions so that the proceeds would not be able to go to Abramovich.

This is because they think the viability of the club is potentially best served if it is sold."

Story on F365 is reporting that the club can be sold if Abramovic hands the process over to the government (who will presumably determine where the proceeds go).

Basically someone is going to pay a massive backhander to get the club on the cheap in the very near future

I don’t think Abramovich will do that. There’s no way he’s walking away from Chelsea without a profit.

Basically Abramovic is not selling this club for the 3billion he priced it....

More like 500m if that as he will be DESPERATE to get rid of this investment somehow...
