Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

Bad news guys. I just got this email from Mark.

It looks like most of us will have to get a refund instead.:(

That's not good, not had the email yet, is overclockers aware of this?, are they going to action the refund or shall I chase Mark, shame as I'm loving the monitor in well lighted games.

Can anyone else confirm this? Or had the email?

I had this email on the 1/5/2015, think I was one of the first to use the swap out service.

Just had this email today

So maybe others will still get a replacement.

If none of his distributors had any left in stock during the first person he contacted on the swap out list arranged by OcUK then why did he
respond to let us that first was contacted by him around the 6th May that he will arrange to have a new one ordered and shipped to us.

I guess I'll have to wait till Monday to find out now, you would assume if they are out of stock a blanket email would have gone out to all who were not going to get one.

If I get a refund not sure if I'll wait or go for the swift, I like the ips though so may be a long wait till someone else brings one out.

Some people might have got lucky and got one when they still had stock. It looks like some of us won't get one right now

I can't see it just being me that is the only one out of the whole list that can't get a replacement due to no stock.

At least I hope I am not that unlucky anyways that it I am the only one out of the list not getting a replacement
due to no stock and everybody else on the list is able to get one soon.

Hello there

Not sure as to why somebody has stated the screens have "missed QC" as this is not the case. Do you know who you spoke too?

Acer have been contacting and arranging the swap outs for the monitors and they have been taking this situation very seriously and professionally.

Any questions feel free to give me a shout.

Regards

Bailey

hi bailey thanks for the reply the oc chap (sorry i dont recall his name during friday morning at 8:30) he told me acer would contact me for a replacement (i dont remember exact wording) but he reinforced my testaments.

I assume its in process and now its waiting on Acer, i hope they ring me saturday or monday if not i'll follow them up. Not the biggest fan of having to wait on a Acer phone call

Do you have your order number or any details.

Who did you speak to at OcuK?

Thanks

Bailey

order number; 581 (last 3 digits)

Reading the last few posts, it seems that there is no more stock available from Acer.

So I have to ask why OCUK are still selling them. Is the OCUK stock checked + tested ? If it is, then please say so and we can buy in confidence from OCUK.
Else, why would you continue to sell monitors that are confirmed by the manufacturer to be from a 'bad batch' ?

Also guys, why has not a single one of you unlucky enough to have been caught in this debarcle left a review of this monitor here ?
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-077-AC&tool=3

I can see OCUK have tried to sort this, but the reactive actions seem only to have made things worse for customers.
OCUK seem to have lacked the dangly bits to simply pull the item from sale and tell Acer to take the lot back because it falls well short of the quality expected by OCUK customers. That's the kind of action that instills confidence in customers that a retailer does not stock and sell rubbish.

I'm not going to leave a review until I get a replacement. If the replacement is just as bad then it will be a negative one and if it's better a positive one. I have never been one for knee jerk reactions. You could also ask the people that got a good one why they haven't left a review :p

can anybody confirm, that acer swap out is out of stock?

sigh if thats true, thats bad news

It seems that might be the case and that some of us got lucky.

I am just not sure what to do anymore. I don't really want to get a refund as I like this screen.

I might let Mark know I am prepared to wait in hope he can get more stock soon.

I have my current old screen hooked up so it is not like I am having to do without a screen whilst this gets sorted.

Hi guys, I know quite a lot of monitors have had issues with BLB and glow. Has anyone had a flickering issue? I just recently got the monitor and it was working fine, then started flickering rapidly - this was fixed if I turned G-Sync off. I reinstalled drivers and all was well, but then it happened again. I've now reinstalled some older drivers, but I am not sure if it's going to happen again yet (it happened randomly after a while the first time I reinstalled the drivers....). I'm trying to figure out if it's a driver issue or problem with my screen.

Don't understand why people are being told they're out of stock, someone else was told that Mark would buy one from another retailer if necessary and then ship it on to them, I was also told that by Mark and as other retailers do have them it "should" be fine, just check the UK Acer page for the monitor will show you another store has it in stock. I have a feeling the sh!t still hasn't completely hit the fan with all this though.

It could be that he has a lot more people to help than he was expecting and so he can't be bothered with it anymore.

Like you said, if it was a stock issue, then why hasn't he let us know he can get one for us from another retailer if necessary.

Instead he's email us that he can't get a replacement for us and so we will either have to RMA it for a refund via OcUK which
means we have to pay the shipping costs out of our own pocket to send it back to OcUk or get him to arrange to pick up the
screen and process a refund straight from Acer.

Can anyone from OCUK give us an update on this?, I assume Acer have contacted you regarding us probably sending our monitors back through the RMA process now 'due to stock shortage'??

put mine back in the box ready to go back :*(

acer if your reading this all you needed todo was checking the backlight and i would have been very happy!! also i would have been willing to spend an extra £300 on a decent backlight qc... not rocket science.. jesus im not even sure if i'll take a replacement now, they better really really convince me.

They've put the price up?! Hahahahahahah. Just brilliant.

Unless...... it's some bizarre reverse psychology trick - it's an awful looking, cheaply built, badly constructed monitor that's plagued with faults, but it's £700 so it must be good! Yer right.

It's like Lidl and their faux artsy/ trendy/ appealing to the dull middle classes adverts that are really starting to annoy me now. It's still a ****ing Lidl, and still cack.

I love your posts dude. lol

Hey there guys

Myself and Gibbo have just had an official update from Acer which is the following:

To help reduce any IPS glow they have recommended you to try the following settings:

Gamma 2.2
Brightness: 24
Contrast: 50
R: 50
G: 45
B: 46

This has also been a recommended setting by TFT central as well.

A further update for you as well, I used one of these monitors which a customer of OcUK sent back to us under RMA on Friday for the backlight bleeding.

I personally tested the monitor with my staff in a black room in complete darkness and being perfectly honest it was one of the nicest screens I had seen. Even my staff commented how good it was, also the unit had no bleed as well and was perfectly fine.

Again this was tested professionally by myself and OCUK Techies and we could not find a fault with the unit at all, it was in turn returned back as not faulty and no issue.

Acer are working hard to help everybody and are acting very professionally in this instance too.

Gibbo and I will be getting a further update from them in due course and we at OCUK are giving Acer our 100% support for everything they are doing for their customers

Thanks

Bailey

With all due respect Bailey, that entire statement had given me zero confidence in all of this.

I have terrible bleed and glow, a stuck red pixel , playing dark games even with those settings looks awful compared to my much older and cheaper Dell U2713HM.

Right now i'm feeling ripped off if i'm being honest bailey.

And still NO word from you OR Acer on these mythical replacements.
