Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

So has the warranty terms been updated to onsite for the duration of the warranty period as well? I remember in varkanoids thread where i also asked about the ocuk site saying warranty was onsite. I even asked in the CS forum to which bailey told me it was indeed onsite but i see earlier in this thread gibbo confirms it is RTB. Can you explain this mistake because i am sure others like myself bought Acer gaming monitors partly based on the fact that they had according to your site got onsite warranty?

Varkanoid did you get a satisfactory result in the end mate?

Gibbo/Bailey - what is the monitor warranty terms as it stands after your meeting for acer gaming moitors? Has this changed to onsite or does it remain RTB? If it is RTB then can you explain why you told us it was onsite?

Yeah I bought a 4k Samsung :)

Will never buy an Acer product again. Will also never buy a monitor from OCUK either as I got zero help from them. Luckily the people in this thread have not had to go through the Acer Support Team to get their monitor replaced in this instance.

I think also people have forgotten that if in a month or mores time their monitor goes faulty via a different issue to this (bar stuck/dead pixels) they may have to go down the RTB route. It wont be onsite then.

....as you wave goodbye to your warranty disappearing into the sunset.

meh doesn't matter to me anyway:

- this monitor is only a stop gap until 34" 1440 g/free sync comes along
- not going through LG's customer service even if the monitor broke, they are awful

Although I don't think that can void warranty as it hasn't damaged the screen at all, all you are doing is removing the crappy finish, it is no different to putting a sticker on or having deep scratches in the chassis afaic.

Trying to resist the buy button again here lol

Wondering if I just got unlucky with my first one....

I guess there's no way of getting one checked before it goes out?

I know it wouldn't normally be the case for new purchases which has already been said but on the other hand mine was returned with a fault and refunded rather than replaced.

Is this possible at all?

Well I've gone ahead an tried again anyway.

With any luck it will work out good this time. At least its nice to know if there is a problem I can always try a replacement.

The time I had with my previous monitor showed me how good this XB270HU could be.

Fingers crossed :)

I'm going to go ahead and wish you good luck.

I would like to be on the list but customer service forum is locked for some reason? Any help? Thanks

You will need to drop an email to a Mod or an Admin on the forums.

Not sure why you cant see it.

If you can provide me your order number alone here I can do it for you?

Bailey

@Bailey / Gibbo

Could you let me know what the dead pixel policy is please?

I'm ready to order from the new batch but don't want to be stuck with it if I have less than 10 dead pixels.

The Monitors conform to the ISO standard for DP's at the moment guys

Cheers

Bailey

So 10 dead pixels is not classed as a fault:confused: Is that standard on Acer screens?

This would normally be true but as of a post last week it mentions Backlight bleed and pixel issues could be returned and swapped out with a pre checked unit as agreed with acer?

I have not received my new one yet... got delayed with DPD which worries me because of the extra handling/transit time, which of course increases the chance of damage.

Fingers crossed mine will be ok... however I do have it in the forefront of my mind that there will be issues with it.

Can anyone else with one of these panels try it out with a longer DisplayPort cable?

I'm pretty sure my unit is faulty as I'm getting lots of crashes, freezes etc but I'm trying to find out if a secondary issue is affecting mine alone or is a symptom of the limitations of the model/tech.

I've tried it with two different 3m cables, an unbranded cheapo eBay jobby and a more expensive Startech 19-wire one.

The cheapo one lets me select any refresh rate up to 144Hz but won't display anything over 85Hz (black screen upon testing) and with the Startech one the Windows/nVidia control panels report that the Acer will only go up to 85Hz - all rates above this are not even selectable.

For reference, when I go back to either the Acer supplied cable or another shorter one I get the options to output 1440p @ at the full 144Hz, and it does so with greater stability than either 3m one.

I've tried this with G-Sync off and on, and tried three different GTX980s desparately, and all three in SLI - nothing makes a difference. I've tried the last three signed nVidia drivers too.

The maths say that 1440p @ 144Hz shouldn't even breach ~13Gb/s bandwidth so the 21Gb/s rated DisplayPort 1.2 standard should comfortably handle this.

Am I hitting a limitation that will hold true for the entire range; that you just can't ask this much of DP cables over 2m in length, or is this down to being unlucky and having a panel that is struggling?

Does anyone have the means to test this out themselves? OcUK staff even?

Thanks in advance.
