Silly question, just popped into my head.

What would it take to be ones own ISP?
A lot of money to rent equipment and space in BT's buildings (etc). Or you could be a virtual ISP (piggy-backing on a real ISP) but I'm not sure how much control you have then. Not really looked into it.

Either way you'd be a UK company serving UK residents so you'd be easily found/shut down if you didn't toe the govt line ;)

I gather that the age of consent in England and Wales is 16 regardless of sexual orientation or gender. I have even heard suggestions that it should be reduced to 15.
I wonder how old you have to be in order to join the armed forces and kill people?

I do look forward to the first (widely publicised) application of this silliness :D

What do they actually count as porn here?

I mean there is some adult content (full nudity) on twitter so would that count? Likewise Netflix and Amazon prime contain films that involve pornographic content for example the film Nymphomaniac is available on Netflix.

Ah well, the far left got their way and now we have to buy porn licences to fap, because you gotta be stupid to use your bank card or other ID, 100% guarantee that database is gonna be hacked.

The most right wing government we’ve had since thatcher and you call them far left?

**** up.

The very same government that continues to hide pedos in their midst.

Further from my poorly constructed post, this just screams to me to be a reaction to pedogate (the infinitely long inquiry) that the establishment wants buried.

The porn controls (besides being Puritan nonsense) are only going to harm the oldies and idiots who aren’t learned in internet-fu. So the few people they catch out with this will be used to make it look like they’re doing something about teh pedogeddon.

It’ll also mega anger the Tory base into voting for them (some ******* how...), as they can’t figure out why their precious guvment is taking away their porn.

Exactly. How far to the right would you have to be to call this Tory government far left? This is right wing christian self loathing by the Tories. Be interesting to see how many MPs put down VPN cost in expenses from now on. Who was that Tory MP that got caught having porn sites on his laptop? Id like to see his expenses next year.

Are they not trying to ban TOR or make it an offence or some thing?
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=how+many+days+until+july

There are currently 75 days until July.

I predict a run on hard drives!
Or VPN membership.

I think, as far as I’ve read, that sites where 2/3rds of their content is pornographic, must abide by the rules. Sites such as Reddit, which has plenty of xxx subreddits are outside of this rule (although I imagine a lot of the links on those subreddits would fall under this new law).

But then I guess it’s up to the ISPs to impose this law and start banning sites that aren’t abiding by the rules.

It’s not going to work, is it :p

You could say the same thing about buying condoms or lubrication (KY jelly) etc now.

Plenty of people have no shame.
