Several have tried to use the Bing browser and been met with "content has been blocked in your country or region" with no way of switching off the safesearch. An ISP block would direct you to the site but come up with a block on the actual URL.

I've seen no official announcement by Microsoft bringing this in, but it's the same blocking system that's in place for Arabic states.
 
Wife works in a Primary school where there have been a number of porn related incidents over the last couple of years.

A savvy older kid will get around this if they are clever. However I welcome the restrictions, as there have been incidents of kids as young as 6 seeing the full extent of what the web has to offer and then other cases of incidents of kids acting out what they had seen on other children and their younger siblings.

Being 40 Page 3 was probably the worst thing I had seen by the time I was 8-9 but this is another world now. This material clearly does warp young minds.

Yes which is annoying and completely ineffective unless they made changes to it as it doesnt block anything on a lot of social media sites and un-filtered image/video/media sites.

I would have a guess that the times where people are exposed to the type of content that parents/others dont want them to see are on on social media/youtube/etc non filtered sites.

An ISP's filter as the only line of defence is not effective and easy to get around which is also what this whole AgeID system will be also.

Who uses Bing? Use Ixquick then it's all anonymous :p

There are websites which will put together fake details for you lol. Like this one including a working temporary email address: https://www.fakeaddressgenerator.com/World/uk_address_generator

Then all someone needs is a pay as you go sim from any phone shop, registered to the fake address to verify.

either the parents failure or this wont stop it anyway.

I doubt they will even need to be clever to get around it for a start.

porn warps young minds? but I assume violence and death in movies is fine

I don't see how they can just stop you using a VPN as things stand, way easier than fake addresses and pay as you go sims.

They can't stop VPNs really, even if they wanted to. It's easier to hide them and make them look like other traffic than block them. Even the great firewall of China can't stop all of them.
