Aero/Gains Thread

I was thinking of putting something together for my turbo to use as a front fork stand. I have slightly limited floor space so saving the radius of the front wheel would actually be good. Has anyone seen anything?

Surely you could just fasten that, or any other QR scewer to a block(s) of MDF? Depends how cheap/flashy you want to go...

QR skewer through a block of wood might be the winner, that Cycleops thing is a bit pricey for what I was looking for.

Realised I posted this in the wrong thread - apologies mods.

 if it literally just needs to serve a purpose.

Could pop some other amenities on there too or even build it in to something similar to the 'KickR Desk'.

So my position has changed somewhat of late and I've gone for the Praying Mantis type position.

I'm still making some more changes with 20deg armrest spacers to come and I need to chop a bit off the end of the bars, but I've tidied up my cabling a load so can only see 2 di2 cables as they drop down behind my risers. Will aim to remove the risers as the season goes on and I get more comfortable. Not got any real befores but can see the after here.

unsure how much it has helped so far, as I've pushed 20W harder on a 10 but got 40s off my PB, however yesterday I smashed my 25 PB by 58seconds with a 53:47, doing 270W, compared to my previous of 245W, slightly different course, but I would say yesterdays isn't as quick as the one my PB was previously on.

Also moved to the same position a while ago, from only 30 degree reverse extensions to 40 degree with a 20 degree arm pad spacer. Still working it out where I need to move it exactly but feels a lot quicker.

Think so far this year I've probably gained somewhere around 30s on a 10 in terms of recent drag savings and new equipment choices, so hoping towards the end of the year I can get to a lower 18 for a 10, and a mid 48 or so for a 25, but we'll see. Power is also up, 370w for 20mins recently on the road bike.

The classic Richmond Park TT this weekend, hopefully I can get close to troubling the CR.

Shame you couldn't race Sunday, was some quick times if you ran later! Hopefully break my pb for 25 again as quicker course up on the a3 then need to get into a floaty 10 to get close to that 20 mins mark!

Entered 25s back to back weekends in July... same course at Rainford both weekends, most of it is fast bypass, I would like to aim for a 55 having done a 57 on what I think is a slower course in not optimal weather.

Is that the D25/3 Berger? The second date is my birthday so maybe that’s a good way to celebrate. :o

My first 25 of the year this weekend and only my 4th TT of the year. Literally no idea how it’s going to go, should be fun.

I just need to cable my brakes first...

It is, I think they have patched up all the rough surface on the start/finish stretch of the 10 mile course too so should be fast.

So this guy lives by me and is constantly taking my KOM's when he's in Zone 1 :(
He's pretty handy on a TT bike, riding for Team Bottrill/VANGUARD. He wins every regional TT race he enters and came 8th in the RTTC National Circuit Champs this week.

Windy AF tonight!

296w 22:41. A fair time, I got held up a little three times but then got a draft from a truck for a little way too which gained me some back & a mini rest so balanced out.

10w and 15 seconds down on my PB. 5bpm lower HR though and I generally felt OK and pushed hard the last mile at 335w average so had a bit more in the tank.

Got to get tuned up for all the 25s coming up, only 4 seconds down on the bloke in tonight’s 10 who put 2 minutes into me in my first 25.

Aero bars - do they always whistle when it’s windy?! Have stuck some on my relaxed geometry road bike for a triathlon coming up and shock and surprise it is faster by 1mph+ so far. I’ve only got up to a 15 minute effort so far but also just whacked them on, checked they were horizontal and hopped on. Fun stuff, I can see how TTing can become very addictive

No whistle on my bars! Just whoom whoom from the wheels.

A proper TT will have the lower front end/higher saddle without a compromised pedalling position.

Going fast easily is addictive! 40kmh without pushing too hard!

Stepped it up this week, windy again but better paced, just over 300w average, felt good and managed 350w for the last mile as still had something in the tank. Had a couple of slow roundabouts, the worst having to drop to 25kmh from 46ish.

22:18 and fastest time on the night. Ordered the nopinz timewarp overshoes, hoping they are here for next week as it’s a 25.
