Biden could have let the taliban secure the city and both airports.
He did not and that is why people got killed.

I'm guessing it is because more than ever politics has become a popularity contest and no one wants to take ownership of the hard stuff until they are forced to due to public backlash.

He did. He finally took the US out of Afghanistan. People talk as if he denies this. The army seems to have led Biden to believe that the Afghan government would fight they didn't. This is what led to the **** show we watched on TV.
Once Trump, as President, had that meeting with the Taliban which didn't include the so-called Afghan government it was clear who was going to control Afghanistan after the US left.
Also will people stop saying about the US equipment been left for the Taliban. There were only 2500 troops stationed there, the VAST majority of equipment belonged to the Afghan army. It was not abandoned!

He's human, I don't believe anyone who uses that saying as nobody on the planet has full ownership on an issue.
While most of the kit they've seized was Afghan army - there was also quite a bit of equipment left behind over the last 1-2 years as the US reduced its presence. Some of it seems to be due to disorganisation i.e. left for the Afghan army to use but no one actually bothered to sort anything about that so it sat in containers, with the occasional looting, some stuff was straight up abandoned still functional and other stuff there seems to have been no one actually taking ownership of removing so it just sat around with the Afghans guarding it for no real good reason. Mostly small arms and accessories, light armour and utility vehicles.
Contrary to some claims the helicopters left behind were either rendered non-operational and/or were left because they were completely beyond repair - though they might provide a source of spare parts for awhile for keeping some of the operational stock from whatever was left of the Afghan air force running.
EDIT: I can't quickly link to stuff but there are multi-part Twitter threads on the situation on the ground over the last couple of years from various embedded journalists, contractors, etc. which paint a different story to a lot of what is going around in the news.

Begging the question of whether I'm aware of something is nothing but a rather weak attempt to dismiss what someone has said, if we go down that road words lose all meaning, that maybe how you conduct yourself and you may even assume because your word can't be trusted that others are the same, but that's simply not true.

It isn't irrelevant and the point wasn't to question what deuse said, it's more to do with taking things at face value. It's funny you mention how one conducts oneself as Biden's conduct isn't one of a man where the buck stops at him. And yes, words start to lose meaning if they contradict previous words and actions. I mean, you only have to look at his predecessor for that.

Good. We have enough problems at home that the press should be getting into. Afghanistan should become a page 5 story like all the other ****** up regions of the world. We are out now, its their problem, not ours.
I have a tough one with that - there is almost a whole generation whose hope and dreams are going to be crushed under the Taliban and only a fraction of them will ever make it out.
