Afghanistan - 20 years on

Not sure how accurate, but seems like there are some disagreements with the US/British leadership on the ground in Kabul, looks like we want to go out and collect as many people as possible but the US prefer to secure the airbase and just sit there waiting for the people to come in.

Tbh, if the Brits can do it safely and collect the people needing out I hope CO 2PARA or whoever tells whoever in the US leadership to rod off. I've worked with the US couple of times and can imagine their leadership being the big balls out there trying to run it, the US lads/girls will probably want to help but they are quite robotic when it comes to following orders, rightly or wrongly. We tend to think a bit more... again rightly or wrongly, just seeing this at face value I'd say hopefully we are doing what is more right. But then I don't know what exactly is going on, I can only imagine it being very difficult for all involved, especially the lads/girls out on the ground. They will be under some mental stress out there for sure.

How would British or US troops on the streets of Kabul surrounded by Taliban go down? It doesn't seem feasible.

There is obviously some sort of cooperation happening at present. Whether the Taliban are dictating a timeframe on cooperation to us, who knows, probably. Biden keeps saying 31/08, is that him or the Taliban?

So after leaving 15,000 US citizens behind Biden says this

Asked by ABC if he would acknowledge any mistakes in the chaotic withdrawal, Mr Biden said: "No."

He added: "The idea that somehow there's a way to have gotten out without chaos ensuing, I don't know how that happens."

Mr Biden was also asked about images that went viral this week of Afghans falling from an American military plane as it gained altitude over Kabul.

The US president grew defensive, saying: "That was four days ago, five days ago!"

Mr Biden was pressed on his assessment only last month that a Taliban takeover of the country was "highly unlikely".

He said intelligence reports had suggested such a scenario was more likely by the end of this year.

"You didn't put a timeline out when you said 'highly unlikely'," said interviewer George Stephanopoulos. "You just said flat out it's 'highly unlikely that the Taliban would take over.'"

"Yeah," replied Mr Biden

Jesus christ not even trump ever gave such a bad press conference.

He just straight up admitted lying about the withdrawl, callously disregarded deaths and refuse to admit any mistakes after abandoning us citizens

Yet not long ago he and Blinken, etc. was insisting there wouldn't be scenes like Saigon... plenty they could have done as well so that the transition went smoother including probably holding back on pulling out of Bagram until the final stages.

Interesting point doing the rounds about the whereabouts of Kamala while all this is going on?

Do Afgani lives matter? Women's rights etc?

She's laying low while Biden takes the flack.

I think he's being used willingly or unwillingly as the patsy so she can be clean to take over

Biden can't do any wrong because he is not Trump.

Biden didn't think the US should take many people away from Vietnam. Sure he will get back onto important western issues soon, white rage, covid, gender studies, CRT etc etc. The church of Biden rejoice. I see the Biden thread is hilarious, but I'd get ripped to bits in there so I'll stay in my lane.

Nobody has said that

If you're confident in your own ability to argue a cohesive and valid point, why would you worry about getting "ripped to bits" by strangers on a forum that you'll likely never meet.

Because you can't reason with fanatical people.

My broad sweeping statement regarding Biden is not Trump, if you think that has no bearing on people, you are naive.
