Afghanistan - 20 years on

Have you taken your pills today? He just wrote an entire bit criticising Biden and yet he's "another one"?

So basically, unless people live in America we shouldn't comment on their politics? That rules out pretty much everyone in this thread other than you then?

The poor guy lives in either Solihull or Florida, two steaming cesspits. So you probably can't blame him for being confused.

Yet he missed out that biden missed the deal time(by months) and shut down the CCR so not many will escape.
You did know that.......right?

I've seen that allegation yes, hopefully we'll know for sure soon once the media have time to look in to it properly.

The official response is:

A State Department spokesman told the Beacon the Biden administration did not abolish any program, as it “was never established in the first place.”

Biden did extend the deadline. That is absolutely the case. Trumps administration had 13,000 soldiers in Afghanistan when the agreement was signed. By the time he was out of office there were less than 2500 soldiers present. Biden used those extra months to slow the withdrawal from 1000's per month to 100's

But we've already been here - How would it have been different if America just upped and left when was originally agreed by Trumps deal? You said we'll never know because we don't have a time machine. I can't see it would have been less of a cluster-****.

You shouldn't tell people in another country how they should live and do.
You and your mob do it every day and twice on a sunday.

OK....

And this is the problem. I would have carpeted bomb the whole place.

What you're saying is that you would like the UK to not have to be a major part of a Western led military alliance that aims to ensures peace, nuclear non-proliferation, and maintains the status quo. Unfortunately we have to do that because no one else will. Isolationism doesn't work, if you sit back you end up with Russia deciding that a few of those Baltic states rightfully belong to them and there's no one who's going to step in, you have China deciding that they own more and more territory around South East Asia and then suddenly they want some Japanese Islands because of what happened in WW2, then suddenly Japan is developing nuclear weapons to defend themselves, plus the entire rest of the world does whatever the **** they want, why wouldn't Iran invade Israel with the backing of some Arab states? Why wouldn't Israel nuke Iran if they think they pose a credible threat to their existence?

Isolationism doesn't work, it didn't work in the 1930's when America tried it and it won't work now.

Trouble is, Russia and China are doing and will do what you say and there won’t be a response from the West. We did sod all about Ukraine. We are doing sod all about Hong Kong.

We aren’t a superpower, we aren’t the world’s police. I think we need to stop thinking we are.

Plenty of countries don’t get involved in conflicts and they are ok…

Are you living in some liberal utopia we aren't aware of? The suggestion about transitioning our armed forces to some kind of peace force has me really scratching my head otherwise.

What other countries are you talking about in terms of not getting involved in conflicts? Even tiny nations like Latvia had troops in Afghanistan.

Well, there actually has been a response to both China and Russia, even in recent weeks. Why would we intervene in Ukraine, they aren't a NATO member so we have no obligation to, and an intervention would likely lead to a war with Russia. We can intervene justifiably so if they invaded Balkan states because they are a member of NATO and Russia knows this.

What basis is there to say that we think we're a super power? How is the UK acting like a super power?

Aren't we feigning super power status every time we send a ship up the Taiwan straights etc?

As if we could do anything if China downed a ship!

We aren't acting on our own, the UK is part of NATO, these operations are coordinated with our allies. It's honestly like people literally have no idea what they're talking about. hurrr wHy iS tHe uK pIcKiNg a fIgHt wItH cHiNa wE sUcK

I find it interesting that you are bickering about it being Trump or Biden's fault. In the end, Afghan leadership brokered a deal with the Taliban allowing them in to take complete control.

Regardless of whether they agreed deal that Trump made with the Taliban months prior, the leadership abandoned their people at the first chance.

I use the comprehensive search feature on the forum, it takes just a few minutes as you can search per member.

Literally typed in Syria and filtered it to Deuse.
That doesn't help your case.

He has 105 posts in that thread and the specific post you quoted doesn't say anything about Syria. so you would have had to go through them one at a time. Unless you remembered that very post and where searching what thread it was in. But it is a very unremarkable post to remember.

Cut Afghanistan in half. Call one side Talistan and let the Taliban have it and everyone who wants to live under Sharia law.

Call the other side new Afghanistan and let the others live there.

That way the world doesn't need to take in all the refugees, etc.
