Age of Conan

I'd like to know the answer to that too. I heard a rumour that the War Rhino was US only but I hope it's not true and don't see why it should be.

From what I've read about AoC (not in beta), the devs are aiming AoC at a niche market (though I've yet to hear what they think the niche is) rather than WoW's mainstream target audience. It will not be for everyone, and it will not be a WoW killer.

I've seen the War Rhino on offer in a UK store pre-order so it's definitely available here.

To be honest, at times I am very puzzled by your posts regarding AoC, one minute the posts are favourable, the next minute you are complaining about the game.

My opinions change depending on patches and other factors.

At the moment the game is running perfect for me, i don't care much for pvp or sieges and im a barb person so spell weaving doesn't effect me either.

And seriously, you surely cannot believe that testing things in "private" beta is a good enough test for entire game concepts..thorough testing requires hundreds, preferably thousands to test, not 30 people. Just look at all the stuff that currently hasnt got to public test..the DX10 client, siege weapons, city sieges, battlekeep sieges, complete city construction, high level crafting, high level large scale open PvP. These things all need to be tested by the masses, yet they still are not in to test.

DX10 is just textures, they dont need externally testing.

Siege weapons, city sieges, battlekeeps, complete city construction are all under the same thing. some recent changes made it clear that things are progressing in the right way. I have faith and i also don't care much for pvp sieges.

High level crafting is currently working, just the areas to gather the resources isn't. They haven't added all the trainable tiers and recipes, but again there nothing major and something that cant be added.

By your own admission , you yourself rated AoC PvP as -4 on a scale of 1-10, and that was just 7 days ago that you said that. Less than 1 month ago you declared that if the game was ready on the 23rd of May you would eat your feet. Simply put, I am finding it hard to find any consistency to your posts, one minute its praise and condemning of anyone who has anything bad to say about AoC, the next minute you yourself are saying bad things about AoC.

Don't miss quote me for starters, that was in regards to how you base AoC pvp.

Yeah, the game probably wont be done on the 23rd of May, but most of the things that i personally want will be in.

As i've said before, my opinions change based on things i experience, patches, people opinions, developers opinions and so on.

Like I say, I've already given my key back to Funcom as its only fair because I dont use it anymore due to my disappointment with its , in my opinion, over the top instancing and lack of full testing of game concepts.

Certainly though I am very much looking forward to peoples post at release, especially yours :)

What are you expecting? Oh my god this games crap? Because sorry i wont be saying that.

This game is great, I've yet to experience anything that would stop me from buying it.

Its a shame you didn't like it, but you need to stop waving your opinion around as truth and rather just say "i didn't like it".

This game is great. Nothing more i can say yet.

It is coz AOC is all about the end game content. Gamekeep seages. Dungeons. ECT..

The game is all aobut hte end came content.

If it's "all about the end game" then why have they bothered with levels at all?
Seems a complete waste of time.
If the levelling and journey through the game is there "because it is" then once again it will be a grind situation.
They might as well just start every character at the top level if that is all this game is about.

Im gonna play this on the rp server and not care about the levelling up is about the story and adventure for me. And ill tell you what im gonna have bloody good fun playing it that way:)

So you can learn your class..... Think about it.

DX10 is there and its enabled. Its the HDR ect of the game. No major major changes over DX9 just the addon of HDR + Bloom ect tbh.

Maybe thats why you are liking it and I am not then, I am a PvP'er at heart, its a new PvP MMO that I am seeking, and the dev interviews that I read had led me to believe that AoC was going to primarily be a PvP orientated game. The lack of beta focus on the PvP aspect though is what left me feeling that the game was much more in the mould of a PvE game with PvP "stuck on" , than a game designed to be PvP orientated.

Siege weapons, city sieges, battlekeeps, complete city construction are all under the same thing. some recent changes made it clear that things are progressing in the right way. I have faith and i also don't care much for pvp sieges.

I'm glad you have that much faith in not expecting those systems to be publicly tested, I myself though have been burned far too often by Devs promises and PR and prefer to see things for myself than take a devs word for it. Again, on the PvP sieges bit, clearly we are different in that regard, for me an MMO is about the PvP not the PvE, so can understand where we are differing there

High level crafting is currently working, just the areas to gather the resources isn't. They haven't added all the trainable tiers and recipes, but again there nothing major and something that cant be added.

Again you evidently have more faith than me, I prefer to see things publicly tested, to me that instills confidence.

I didnt misquote you at all, not in the slightest, I even made a point of saying that what you said with the -4 was in relation to PvP. Can only guess you are saying I misquoted you just for the sake of arguing.

Again, on the release and stuff being in..evidently what you want will be in, but it seems that what I want (ie the large scale 80+ people v 80+ people pvp) will be largely untested at release. Given that at the moment 30 people on your screen can turn it into a slideshow, let alone having 160 people on the screen , plus effects.

Additionally, you say that you dont think it needs to be delayed, yet here you say the game wont be ready for release on the 23rd of May. In my mind, again thats inconsistency, either its ready or its not ready and needs a delay (even if its just by 1 month).

What are you expecting? Oh my god this games crap? Because sorry i wont be saying that.

Not at all, I merely said that the forums will make interesting reading. You accuse me time and time of slating AoC..clearly my opposite opinion of yours seems to offend you and make you defensive, no idea why..its just a computer game, hardly anything important in life.

As I have said hundreds and hundreds of times, I hope AoC succeeds...yes amazing isnt it..see how I dont just want it to fail?? Astonishing...I hope it succeeds because the more decent MMOs on the market the better for us the gamers, and its precisely because I want it to succeed that I can understand the need sometimes in a games development cycle to delay to make sure everything is as well done as it can be for release.

At the end of the day, there is no absolute NEED for them to release in May, they could quite easily delay by 1 or 2 months and really polish things over. THAT is my point, that has only ever been my point...and frankly I dont see that as being an unreasonable way of thinking

Its a shame you didn't like it, but you need to stop waving your opinion around as truth and rather just say "i didn't like it".

Ok...here for everyone , just to make sure that absolutely everyone knows my standpoint and can fully see that I am not just ragging on the game for the sake of it.

**** I didnt like it, it isnt designed in the manner of an MMO that I look for, ie. I look for large continuous MMO worlds with an absolute minimum of instancing/zoning , preferably none at all, as opposed to the heavily instanced/zoned world of AoC. This is by no means the only way of thinking, I am sure that a certain kind of player will love AoC, this is entirely a personal statement and way of thinking...again..just so everyone is totally clear on this... I didnt like it....just me...myself.... I ****

Somethings just can't be publicly tested. They need the professionals to do it and test in specific ways.

Indeed, very true, but the only way to effectively test sieging, city battles, battlekeeps and massive pvp fights involving hundreds of players at once, is to actually have those in to test. These are things which cant effectively be tested by a couple of dozen internal testers.

Just my opinion of course, and in no way a definitive be all and end all of the UserGuide to BetaTesting v1.0 Handbook

Now I'm sorry but that's just rubbish. If you're designing a product for an end user, the only way to make sure it works properly is to let the end user loose on it. Time and again with beta testing you see that players ALWAYS find ways to break things that never occur to the devs.

Besides, keep sieges? Wanted - professional keep sieger for game testing. Experience required - must have played lots and lots of games.

What I'm annoyed about mostly is the whole ordering process. You can buy the CE, but they don't come with the headstart or the mount, while the Normal edition does! I don't understand how they can give the mount to the standard edition but not to the people paying £50+ for the collectors edition.

I'm really not impressed.

If you don't know, massive patch incoming for the tech test.

Contains loads of content. ;)
