Age of Conan

No the guild cities and battlekeeps are 2 different things. Every guild can have a guild city (which is in a seperate instance to the main game, 4 cities to an instance I think it was going to be). Those cities cannot be attacked by other players.

Then there are the battlekeeps (9 on each server), which (effectively) can be owned by the 9 best performing guilds in the PvP minigames. These battlekeeps can be attacked by other players (at a prearranged time, you cant just turn up and attack it whenever you want), and the sieging of those battlekeeps is also instanced (48 people v 48 people)

Thats how it was last time I played in the closed beta, unless they have changed it in the last couple of days, and I would hope they wouldnt be changing game systems as major as that this close to release.

Yup, I posted earlier describing the above. But according to a guild currently testing it, it's the guild cities which are the 'keeps' now. They said it was quite easy to take the walls down etc.
It seems like there's a lot of confusion regarding the bk stuff now.

Well when the patch server goes down it usually means a new patch is being uploaded. If it improves stability and performance, I'm all for the patches.

Lots of patches = good support = good game experience imo. Glad they are patching it and tweaking rather than letting it stand still and die :)

Oh of course, I'm not against patching or anything lol. The smoother the ride once the floodgates open, then better. I only did a rolleyes, 'cause I've just finished downloading 15gig of stuff, and there's more to go :P

Poor PC hasn't slept in days.

Really? Well that makes no sense at all, we know that there are only 9 battlekeeps per server, if the guild cities are now the battlekeeps, then that means that only 9 guild can have a guild city. Everyone else cant have one.

Unless they have scrapped the whole 9 battlekeeps idea and made it so that every guild can have a battlekeep...but then that wouldnt make sense, because then nobody would be able to take a battlekeep because each guild can only have 1.

Is this guild reliable?? because that seems to not gel at all with everything I read while I was in closed beta.

Seriously, Funcom shouldnt be messing about with these major aspects of the game a week before release. I have said for a long time that they should have had all this in and tested a long time ago. The whole instanced 48 v 48 person sieging was a big enough blow to many who were looking forward to the game...if they have merged the idea of guild cities and BKs in the manner I just said, they are really in danger of shooting themselves severely in the foot.

Not according to the official website: 2 days ago when I checked it, it said that a tier 3 *PLAYER CITY* was a prerequisite to a guild being allwoed to own a *BATTLEKEEP* - so undoubtedly 2 different things.

A lot of people just peddle bovine excrement on the internet because they think it makes them important if people think they have inside information on things. The people who told you this might not even BE in the beta! :p

There was another 1gb or so of patches after the main download if i recall. One lage 700mb ish one and a bunch of smaller ones. I like that they are producing fixes all the time instead of leaving it for a long time to fix things.

As with any MMO expect the fist month to be unorganised chaos but completely worth it for the game experience!

Re battle keeps, this news is also posted on a well known beta leaks website by people who've spoken to the guild in question. I agree it's confusing! I thought it was as above, tier 3 city then fight for keep. Unless they're also making guild cities attackable too? with 9 bk's chances are only a subset of the top guilds will have any chance of raiding/keeping them.

The post in question:

The Player(PvE) City. IS the Battle Keep City.

From what we have been told by the GM's

You just reserve this spot. and build it up and it can be attacked at vulnerability times.

We attacked the wall to break through and it seems you can just eat right through it at 80.

So. PvE City = battlekeep

I guess we just have to wait and see. How lots of things have changed in the past few weeks from their original press-releases, I'd not be surprised tbh.

Thats got to just mean that for the purposes of testing they used a guild city as the battlekeep.

They stated for so long that there would only be 9 battlekeeps, given that every guild can only have 1 battlekeep, how could they make it so that the guild cities are the battlekeeps. A guild would never be able to capture a keep because they already have one. The entire endgame pvp system wouldnt work.

I've just been checking the closed beta forums (couldnt earlier as I was at work), and I cant find anything on there at all suggesting that the guild cities are now the battlekeeps. I'll keep looking though, but I would have thought something like that would be near the top of the forums

Ah..here we go...

Taken from a post on the beta forums today.

"No attacking the guild city, just their Battlekeep should they have 1 of the 9 available. Originally Guild cities were supposed to be attacked by NPCs, but that is not in the game."

also

"yes thats the Guild City. It is not a BK. BKs are another zone which looks similar to the resources zone"

So the guild citys and battlekeeps are still seperate entities
