Age of Empires 2 HD

Build villagers and click on them to set them building things or cut down trees/fishing.
 
Ah yes. Playing on normal difficulty and getting slaughtered. Forgot how to upgrade watch towers :P

Had a go with my girlfriend.. My laptop overheated (like it does) and that was that.. Shame you can't restore games unless you save them all the time. Should have some sort of autosave for multiplayer just incase.. so people can rejoin.
 
Well I have had a few games against a moderate AI just to get used to it again. Won them all but still really rusty. Trying to get to 2nd age in under 8mins like I used too, depends on boar count though.

Still find that if I get to 3rd age and just spam long swordsman with a few upgrades I can just win on that alone. I want to play other people but then I would show how crap I am lol!
 
I never liked the rushing aspect of Aoe multiplayer. I liked to spend time building up.. I hope theres people who prefer to play like this as well. IRC wasn't there a no rushing rule or only attacking at a certain age back in the day?

If anyone's at this kinda level and wants to play sometime i'm up for it.
 
Dont like playing online as i suck! but i do enjoy playing single player against a load of opponents and then enclosing myself in a huge wall while i max out my population with a huge army.

i wish you could select more troops than it allows, I realise its an old game and the pc's back in the day may not be able to handle selecting all the army but these days it should be an option, my pc 2500k and 7970 doesnt break a sweat with this game, the gpu is practically idling and doesnt even get warm! Im hoping a mod comes along allowing me to select all troops, theres already one for a 1000 population limit

Yeah it's not really that type of game imo, gotta hoover up the resources first :)
 
Back in the day when I used to go to LAN places, the guys playing AoE would have a timer set to 1 hour of no attacking. When the alarm went off all hell broke loose, lol!.

Know what you're saying. I play AOE3 quite often in a skirmish against AI on the hardest level there is. You got roughly 7-8min before you're swamped. It's so difficult.

We used to have a 20min no attack rule. I'd built triple fortification walls. Gives you time to see where the attack is coming from without it being too big a hit in troop numbers or buildings destroyed.

I think the devs mentioned this in a live stream, they kept it because it was a tactical thing.. I suppose if they did remove that limit it would change the game more than you think..
 
Well just did my first online random map. 2v2, my team member was playing for the first time since the old days.. he then resigned and I got overrun with elite huskarls. Wonderful.
