Does anyone know if you can actually just walk into a Homebase and buy one of those units and walk off with it or does it have to be delivered?

My homebase had about 200 odd in stock...

Going at Lunchtime, apparently there is one in Warrington (close to where I work) but I cant find it using the store locator on website.

Just ask a staff member to carry it to the till and to your car, with one of their wheelie things. The website says its only available online yet I saw a few in store, strange people.

Right just been and got one, they had a few left but its not the one posted in link it appears to be made by homebase and cost £149.99 hope its ok :D

i was thinking about getting that one today, but i kinda need permission first. id probably end up stripping it down for Watercooling after a year or so because im hoping to get AC put in the house when we have an extention ;)

9000btu is overkill for watercooling though, but how good is it as a AC unit? :p

hi i bought the last b and q unit they had - the 12k one without the heater function but it did not come with the instructions as it was ex demo - there is a warning light flashing - can anyone help? i think it must mean that it needs emptying - can anyone with the same one talk me through how to do it - i am a numpty with things like this and don't wanna damage it.

cheers

It should have something like a pipe and rubber plug so just make sure you have a tray beneath and open that and let it empty, i don't know how much that one contains though so make sure your prepared, someone said the 9000btu has about a litre, also always empty it at the end of the season even if it doesn't ask for it and give the dust filters a clean.

Absolutely made up with the homebase one, plugged it in, stuck the tube out of the window, switched it on, shut bedroom door, went to have my tea, came back upstairs and rooms freezing! lol

Really impressed, just what I needed :D

the 149.99 one 12k is awesome on a full room full of computers (about 22).

The 79.99 one is quite good for a decent size room @ home, does its job well!. Just fill it with water and freeze the ice packs for more cool air, it moves side to side and can dehumidify the air. Its an air cooler not conditioner btw! Make sure u empty the water daily and clean it weekly...dont want parkinson disease!

Ended up getting a B&Q 9000BTU one (as it looked prettier - always a good selling point for my other half!). Chills the room down a treat, although I've had to perch it precariously on top of a bedside cabinet thing as the ducting isn't long enough to go out of a fanlight.

Only downside is the NOISE. GOD IT IS SO LOUD! :)

To be honest it's a bit too loud to have on at night. Not too bad with just the fan running, but when the compressor kicks in BRRRRRRMMM, it's like you've got the alpha-prime fridge tip toeing into your room!

just picked up my 12k unit from b&q and my god is it good.

The remote is ace as it works, the dehumidify mode works super fast, its been running for 5 mins and i can already tell its less humid in here.

The fan is wicked powerful, speed 3 pushes so much air!

One thing i have noticed, is the air comming out the hose at the back is ****ing hot, thank god its going out the window.

Overall, very impressed, in the time its taken to type this my ambiant has gone down 8c and its cold today! :D

If you want one go and get one now because its gonna be a hot weekend and everywhere will sell out ;)
