Air fryers

Are the trays known to distort a bit over time? Like warp or bend a bit?

My left tray seems to have a bit of a bend along the left side, I don't think it's by design

It's not much but not as straight as the left and draw and feels a bit clunkier to push in? Hardly but a bit.

It's probably the norm, just a bit of movement from the heat

Still can’t get a Ninja 451 :(
Same Rob, debated about buying one months ago; who would've foreseen the energy/cost of living crisis.

I mustn't grumble, own the grill, having two trays would be a nice to have. I am sure they'll be two a penny in a few months, energy prices are only going one way, sadly.

I suspect this has been talked about but I’ll ask anyway, what sort of electricity usage are people seeing with these.
I’d be tempted if the cost of using it was low enough. We have a range cooker at the moment and am keen to use it less but if I’m saving a few pence each time it doesn’t seem worth it.

They'll still use a bit, it heats electrically and anything that does so uses quite a bit. Having said that though, an Air Fryer gets up to temperature in about 2 minutes as opposed to 10-15 minutes for some types of oven, has a much lower wattage than a mains powered electric oven, cooks faster so you'll use less energy there and also produces better results than many large ovens due to the speed of the air circulation so there's no hot spots, the food cooks evenly and you also get a satisfying crunch on the edges too.

I'd expect it to be designed not to warp under the heat the product itself generates. Looks like poor quality and/or a defect and should be replaced if still relatively new.

give it 10 years and they will be talking about chemicals leaking into food causing cancer

I wanted to do a whole chicken in ours but didn't know to what extent I should jam it in so it's ok touching the sides etc?

I saw some mention cooking it breast side down for half, then turning it over?

I had a 1.6ishkg bird in the fridge when we opened out ninja and just didn't look like it would go in, I'll be braver!
A 1.6 went in ok in my dual ninja (small version)

It was snug though, but cooked fine, 200c for 50mins, 25mins each side. I think I might do 1hour next time though just to crisp it up a bit more, and to be sure it’s cooked through.

No need to break its back, well in my ninja the baskets were deep enough. (Think you have the same?)

I guess you used the roast function for the whole chicken?

I used airfry. It crisped it up nice, I just will add a little more time next time to be sure it’s cooked throughly.

All the videos I watched used airfry function, I guess the roast function is better for spuds?

Ah nice! I tend to use AirFry or Max Crisp for most things but somethings, like Pattys and as you say; Spuds, come out better using the roast function.

I don't think I've used my oven in nearly 2 years now. I just use a small air fryer I got in the boxing day sales a while back.

One of the best £30 i've ever spent.

Just bought my parents the 7.6l twin basket from Costco bargain at £99.99 :)
