Air fryers

That's what I was thinking. Which would make it no more energy efficient than using an oven.
I don't think raw power use is the best way to compare.

In my Ninja I can generally cut cooking times down by 25-50% compared to the oven. I don't need to preheat the big empty space of an oven anymore and the air fryer only needs to heat a relatively small space for the cooking period so all in all it's going to use quite a lot less power overall.

Heat up is much faster, the wattage is generally lower compared to an electric oven and cooking time is shorter too. You could be talking pounds a day if you used your oven a lot.

This is an efficiency benefit not an issue. It means you only need to heat one side/basket if that's all the capacity you're cooking.

That said cost saving isn't really a factor in the decision for me. It's going to take a long time to pay back a £230 outlay. I wanted the additional capacity and versatility when making roast dinners and other meals with many elements without needing to install a new kitchen.

I've had a bog standard air fryer for a few years, before we all started worrying about energy use.

It would be handy to be able to split out the chips and nuggets into separate baskets - but now I do care about energy, I don't want to be using more energy for the luxury of separating them out.

Are there any 'less advanced' air fryers that have two baskets, but only uses a single heating / fan element?

Thinking of getting a cheap one, not got Ninja money. Also not got the space for a dual drawer type.

Should have got one in BF sales, but Xmas sales not far away. ;)

Managed to cook most of the Sunday dinner in my dual zone yesterday.

Full chicken on air fry 190C 30 mins then flipped and 30 the other seasoned with some butter salt and rosemary. Came out perfect.
Roasties par boiled for 15 mins, then covered in oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper on max crisp for 25 mins and shaken up half way through.
Carrots and Parsnips were par boiled in a ban too for 10 mins, then put oil in the dual for 3 mins on max crisp, put the parsnips and carrots in on max crisp(done at the same time as roasties).

Yorkshire puddings still done in oven, Broccoli and sprouts done in steamer.

Will try to get more inventive with it but it cut cooking time for Sunday dinner down a lot for me, and so much less pots to clean!

Owned several halogen ovens over the last 10 years, never been interested in an air fryer but might get one now for fries, cooking fries in the halogen is a job and a half!
