Air fryers

Any idea what the difference is on the Ninja between air fry and roast?

Got a whole chicken on the go, Youtube people all use air-fry, yet the Ninja guide recommends the roast mode.

From what I can see it's literally just the temp/time preset/max temp. Can't say I've noticed any other difference between them all.

Gotta say, this has sped up my cooking considerably - even with things like 'Hello Fresh' when you have to roast some veg in the oven or whatever whilst cooking some rice on the hob.

I don't think i've turned my oven on since I got it.

Is this thread just me talking to myself now?

Anyone bothered to try making most of a full English breakfast in an air fryer? Was just thinking it could be doable.

Yes :p

My AF400 has seen absolutely zero for the oven since I purchased it around this same time last year. It is a shame I haven't seen much in the way of potential savings due to the energy costs of today. Either way this was probably the best purchase of 2022 without a doubt and mine is used almost daily.

Had a colossal balls up last night when I was making chips for my mum and I. Grabbed a tub of those chinese salt spices you get from Iceland, which was mentioned here a few pages back being great for chips. Except I opened the wrong end of the lid and emptied a massive amount into one of the draws. I then had a Gordon Ramsay moment before carrying on with the cooking session hoping my mum wouldn't notice afterwards...:o

I find it means overcooked bacon. Fine if you like super overdone bacon I guess.
I like it on a silly hot pan for 1 minute each side.

Stuff like chicken thighs, jacket potatoes, Yorkshire pudding I find best so far.
My only attempt at jacket potatoes and they got really dark on the outside before the inside was soft/cooked and that's on the roast setting. What's the secret?
Only tried them the once in the Ninja AF400
