Air fryers

Just got an Ninja AF451, went for this due to some comments here. My girlfriend made some Salmon in 8 minutes last night which is crazy, will see how it goes over the next days!
Lucky man, I'd been wanting one of those but stock was impossible to get hold of but managed to get an AF400. We've hardly used our oven since we got it, so much time and money saved.

Do you or your mum still rate it?

My mum has said she wants one now, and it's £150 on Amazon and Argos. Reviews are still good.

Personally I don’t, the preheat on it confuses her as she is an OAP.

When I do visit and stay over one or two times a week I make a meal for the both of us in it however I think it is a touch too much faff to use and I’m hesitant to teach her. I don’t enjoy babysitting a device whilst it cooks food.

Reviews are probably good as it is used by younger folks with a clue. One thing I like about the ninja is you just chuck food in it and leave it alone, shaking the food basket on your own whim.

On a separate note, the glossy black plastic display looks terrible when off as you can see smears and fingerprints clearly.

I have noticed that occasionally water and condensation builds up in the basket windows during a wash but it seems to go away.

On two occasions when I was cooking chicken breasts, they were a bit undercooked due to my own mistake with the timings as I am used to my AF400. The cooking session had ended so I restarted the fryer for a further 5mins… You would think that since the machine was warm it would fire up at the requested temperature - instead it wanted to preheat for 5mins. So time was wasted for that session whilst the chips in the other basket sat idle.

Thanks for letting me know. Having read a bit more today, and spoken to ny mum, the Ninja AF400 is the way forward; we'll just wait for when it's next on sale.

Btw, does your Af400 have a ceramic/enamel coated basket? And 2 years warranty?

I've got an AF400 and it's got some sort of non stick coating on the basket, not sure about the warranty, think it was 12 months when I bought mine but I think it's 24 months now.

I bought mine from JL for £199 and looking at the receipt it is 2yrs.

Basket I thought was Teflon but I’d assume the website will state what it is. Ours is used almost daily and we’ve got a 3rd basket so we can switch over instantly to cook a third batch of whatever. So far all baskets are undamaged.

My only concern is cleaning the the fan area above each compartment. We don’t cook ‘spitting’ foods like sausages or bacon but one compartment is mildly brown. Most air fryers have this issue of accessibility for cleaning and the ninja is no exception.

Just a quick question :) Cottage pies. Like the premade chilled ones from Asda, Would the mash turn brown and crispy on top? They are absolutely vile when done in the microwave and using the oven for one portion is probably seen as a waste of electric.

Thank you!

Been using the the Tefl Easy Fry Precision 2in1 EY505827 Air Fryer & Grill. Rather disappointed after a month of use the non stick coating is coming off, followed all instructions and when contacted tefel they said its not toxic and warranty isn't coved. Glad we paid by credit card very annoyed we should have got ninja.

Thank you tom_e :)

I'm gonna take a look at these ninjas, I don't need an all in one contraption though, as I've got a slow cooker.

Liking the look of the AG301, mainly due to the hight, I think the AF100 might be a bit too tall to sit on my kitchen top, due to the over head cupboards

Air fry wings.

Just salt, pepper, garlic powder, some ramen spices that was in the last month of use by date lol.

Then coating of cornflour, and brushed with rapeseed oil. I guess you can spray but i didn't have any.

(1st batch)

I think it’s high time manufacturers started putting air fry cooking instructions on products. I know Iceland do it on a large selection of their products, but no other manufacturer or supermarket is following suit.
Agree. Iceland aren't my regular shop however I've recently bought some damn nice iceland make chicken strips or chunks. Can't recall what they were but I was surprised as hell to see AF instructions on the back. I haven't seen that in my local Sainsburys/Lidl for certain frozen foods.
