Air fryers

What's the deal with the larger air fryers?

I thought the idea with these things were that they're small ovens with a fan and basically act almost like frying stuff and they were sort of rice cooker or kettle sized.

I've seen some two-compartment models which look super useful, sort of a double version of the smaller models but then also some larger models with the option to have say three small shelves in...

And now there are basically countertop oven models, like slightly bigger than a microwave but smaller than a regular oven, some of them have stuff like a rotisserie setting too which seems cool. Could be very useful at say Christmas time too if they can be used as an extra regula oven.

But what makes them "air fryers" as opposed to "fan ovens"? Do they have the same "frying" effect as the smaller models? I've also seen that you can get normal cookers/ovens with an air fryer mode too... but surely at that point, it's just a fan oven no, what makes it an air fryer?

It is best just to ignore the fryer mentions and see them as an oven, which you correctly mention they are.

Had my first experience with one a few weeks ago, crazy how well and fast they can cook stuff! Was only chicken nuggets whilst we were steaming at a mates, so I wasn't complaining
Steaming or streaming......???

It is a bit of a learning curve to start with reduced times etc, but it so worth it, in both energy saving and time. Big fan of ours, even if the UX is a bit pony at times

Haha we were battered mate, he disappeared to make a sandwich and I go into the kitchen and he's got this air fryer going all for 4 chicken nuggets

Just bought this:

£249 down to £199 then add the below:

use code NINJATRADEIN25 for £174 delivered.

If you are BLC holder, you can get a further discount, bringing the price down to £167.

Question for you - i have seen silicon baskets are used by some - is it advisable to purchase these too for Air Fryers?

I wasn't ever particularly convinced by the air fryer "fad" for the longest time, but I recently got the Xiaomi Mi Smart one for £60, and can now see what the fuss is about. It's really impressive and a lot quicker than using my oven especially just for cooking or heating up something small.

Had my Ninja foodi max for a few years, love it for cooking frozen fried food. If we get KFC delivery the chips always go in for 3 mins and crisp up nicely.

If I am to buy now I would get the duel zone as I hate cooking chips and other stuff in the same basket.

I went with cheap single one just too see what it was all about and ended up using it everyday, recently upgraded to dual one :)

I can do a large chicken in the Instant Pot Duo
A medium chicken in the Ninja Foodi Max, or larger if spatchcocked and I reckon a medium chicken would be possible in the Ninja Speedi, which I might try this weekend.

I turned the oven on last week to see what it was

the only time we use the oven now is if I need to cook a pizza or we're doing a large family dinner on a Sunday for 7 or 8. Annoys me when I need to turn the oven on I'll admit.

I tend to use mine for sausages and burgers mostly, although I did try salmon last night which turned out pretty well. Still to try chips in the air fryer!
