Air fryers

OK, that makes more sense. Pre battered/breadcrumbed "dry" items work well in an air fryer, but for fresh, wet batter you really need hot oil to work the magic.

I'm tempted to give it a go with the silicone trays and a wire rack to get it off the bottom.

This will probably just one of those 'Challenge accepted' times, but could be interesting.

looks good. I dont know if your air fryer is similar to mine, but I would suggest using the bake setting instead of air fry if you have the option.

Some people do seem unable to let go of their feelings about the name, although I'm not aware of a widespread belief that the device is anything other than a small convection oven. The big difference being the smaller size and powerful fan enabling the air fryer to heat itself up and cook food much quicker than a traditional size oven, saving time and money.

If you are cooking meals for (say) a large family then a traditional oven may well still have its place. But these days many people report that after buying an air fryer they rarely think about using their old oven.
Ha that’s me and by all means address me directly:D Yes the name bothers me but I am aware of many people who think it actually is a type of fryer! Otherwise we wouldn’t have all the can an airfryer do this type questions or the shock and joy of someone who finds an air fryer can cook xyz foods, which to be fair makes up most of this thread so yes there’s a huge misconception.

And if you look back when I’ve previously suggested these are just another oven it has surprised some people. So if it’s ok with you I’ll carry on the education:D

And that is why I spend most weekends standing outside the Tank museum (Bovington) informing the crowds that these are tracked vehicles used mostly in anger and are not septic tanks, fish tanks or lagged tanks.

In between being called horrid names and being told to pizza off I now and then hear a tank you, you saved the whole family making a massive mistake and costing us a lot of money.

And don't even get me started on Jellyfish, Starfish and Driveways...

Do you get people constantly asking for advice on tanks though or do you take it upon yourself to offer? If the latter I’m not surprised at their reaction:D

You get now get airfryers that also use microwaves to cook food faster

They are sold as "combination microwave ovens"

Have never watch J oliver before ... but his (tefal) air fryer series c4 is a great advertising engine and shows some techniques you could use
- naan bread , chicken/veg in papilotte, baked cheese-cake
impressed.

e: wish they'd tell you whose santoku knives he uses

Hmm, what brand of knives is Jamie Oliver using in the (Tefal) air fryer series, I wonder?

Oh, look at that! https://www.tefal.co.uk/Kitchenware...er-by-Tefal-Santoku-Knife-16-5cm/p/2100128646

"Ice hardened for superior performance", indeed

In case you're in any doubt, please don't judge knives by how sharp they look when a TV chef is using them. Any rubbish knife can be brought to an amazing edge, but that doesn't mean it'll keep that edge, or even be easy to sharpen again.

NB: Apologies if your comment was actually sarcasm! I quickly took a look at one episode to confirm that the knives match the online pics, but maybe they're constantly plugging the knives too, in which case, "Whoosh" :D

I find my air fryer great for everything. Only issue is lack of space when doing something like pizza or a roast dinner. Anything on the bottom usually ends up undercooked

No they are not good for pizza unless you do small ones.

I have two air fryers now, A 5.5L and 7.2L.

The 5.5L actually has a fair bit more space on the bottom, the 7.2L is just much taller so it depends what model you have.

I either buy a pizza that fits one of the air fryers, or cut one to fit.

@gamerTM21

What machine are you using?

And being typically something associated with Oliver it is "This product is currently not available at any online partner" :D

Think I'm going to see if i can find a black friday deal for a double tray unit to replace my trusty Instant Vortex 5.7l unit. Fancy one that can be converted from 2 trays into one big tray.

Possibly the Instant Versazone or Ninja Flexdrawer, althought the Instant is only £139 at the moment.

Looking at air fryers that come with a grill, hoping they are good for things like sausages, burgers and steak but without the mess and smell.

Do the grill plates add much or would any air fryer cook the same way?

The Russell Hobbs SatisFry Air & Grill looks pretty good, has a bottom heating element along with the grill plate. Looks big enough to get 4 burgers in, with 1 big pot to cook in. Can get it for £70ish

Any thoughts / alternatives?
