Air fryers

Looking at air fryers that come with a grill, hoping they are good for things like sausages, burgers and steak but without the mess and smell.

Do the grill plates add much or would any air fryer cook the same way?

The Russell Hobbs SatisFry Air & Grill looks pretty good, has a bottom heating element along with the grill plate. Looks big enough to get 4 burgers in, with 1 big pot to cook in. Can get it for £70ish

Any thoughts / alternatives?

Air fryers are great for burgers, sausages, bacon etc. and also good for steak. You will get some mess from the fat cooking inside the air fryer, but if you are worried about cleaning that up you can use some foil to trap most of it.

Bought a cheap one recently to have in my room, it is a game changer actually especially as I prefer food on the drier and crispier side. Thought I'd only use it incidentally but actually have used it loads.

Thanks, stayed with friends who did some sausages in their air fryer but they came out really dry.

Do you think the grill plate / function adds anything or just a bit of a gimmick?

Sounds like they put them in for too long.

I use mines almost exclusively for sausages / bacon and they don't come out dry at all.

For sausages, I do 200 degrees for 10 mins and they are perfect.

Those poor sausages! were they frozen? when I do fridge kept sausages I do them for 10mins. Bacon cooks very fast, about 4mins.

Been wanting to grab a Crimpit for a while to make some lunches easier. Will grab one!
What are your go to fillings?
Think they are still on offer buy one get one free on the crimpit website. I got a large wrap one and a toastie maker. Have all sorts in the wrap. Curry, rice, bbq chicken, i actually even made my own own big sorta pastie with potatoes, chunks of braised beef, carrots, peas and gravy.

Wanted a double drawer unit so just ordered a Ninja Foodi Max Dual AF400. £150 on Amazon seems a decent enough price to replace my 5.7l Instant.

It was the Ninja v Cosori Dual 8.5l v Instant Vortex Plus Dual, but in the end I liked the hotter max crisp setting of the Ninja plus its 9.5l capacity. Also the overall dimensions just fit better into my cupboard space.

Initially considered one of those single big drawer units, but thinking about it further I'll rarely use the whole drawer, they're more of a pain to wash than 2 individual drawers and you can't shake the food as easily, especially when cooking something delicate.

Ordered the exact same one (went for the copper rather than silver though), it's out for delivery as I type.

Chips for tea then, enjoy mate!

I didn't realise mine won't be here until 12 December, but my old air fryer will see me fine until then so no biggie

Didn't use it to cook tea, was already going around my Mums for a take away. So going to use it a bit later and see how it warns up some chicken fried rice. Guessing it's safe to just place the foil container in the drawer and reheat it in that?
