Airsoft ??

Yes to own an Airsoft gun you need to become a UKARA member. Normally to become one you have have played 3 Airsoft days and been doing it for more than 2 months. Membership can be had through the Airsoft venue you go to.

OR you can buy a second hand gun off Zeroin.co.uk forums, some guys don't bother asking for UKARA.

This information is incorrect and subversion of the system in place can be seen as illegal.

You don't need to be a member of the UKARA scheme, you need a defense against the VCRA. Read through the thread as i've covered it a couple of times. UKARA is one of the easiest methods to achieve it, but some sites don't support the scheme and in more remote areas there aren't an abundance of sites to choose from so you may be stuck with one that doesn't support it.

L33 how do you find the CO2 WE? is it open bolt or closed? i bought an open bolt v3 CQBR start of the year, gun is amazing but seriously let down by the mags. I've taken them apart and re-sealed just waiting for them to go off to test. Also waiting for the Ra-Tech NPAS valve to arrive but i can't for the life of me find the steel trigger box or bolt carrier.

Have considered Co2 but using it in January the mags had sheets of ice on and still fired with propane and the Co2 ones are more expensive.

Ah ok, I thought UKARA and VCRA are the same thing. Buying guns from Zeroin they just ask for UKARA hence that's all I suggested.

VCRA is a legal act, airsoft weapons are illegal under this act, so skirmishers defence/UKARA provide you an exemption to it. UKARA is a system designed by airsoft retailers, generally for airsoft retailers.

Most second hand sales ask for it because a) it is the most common b) it is the only really unified system c) it can be checked (although, this is reserved for retailers who can only search a small part of your personal info to confirm it is you, at your address) . Most people generally don't check it though

More and more retailers are also confirming details via Ukara and only shipping to your stated address (similar to Paypals verified address).

Effecitvely you are correct in reccomending UKARA, but it is important for people to understand what it and the VCRA are.

But for anyone who does not have the ability to join the UKARA scheme, you can still purchase fine, by providing your site details where you are a recognised skirmisher/member. This does however, get trickier when buying overseas and then importing through customs.

As Ethics said, "you don't need to be a member of the UKARA scheme, you need a defense against the VCRA".

I am not a member of the UKARA scheme but am able to buy any Airsoft items I like because I have a different valid defence to the Violent Crime Reduction Act.

Nice!
What kind of FPS do you get out of the CO2 M1A1?
It is adjustable as Aod said, I have it set at 320-330fps for skirmishes. With all of the upgrades (of which the hop, seals & barrel make the biggest difference ofc) and the nozzle dialled all the way out however....

To be fair this chrono over-reads by about 10%. It chrono'ed at ~820 at urban assault on their decent chrono with the nozzle out.

It is a closed bolt, 'original' v3 model, and I also had an open bolt converted SCAR. I have 10 mags for the M4, all of them leaked originally but I replaced the rear seals and added a very small amount of plumbers mastic and they've all been perfect since and they're a few years old now! Just remember to always leave a small amount of CO2/gas in the mags to keep them pressurized or the seals tend to shrink, dry and fail.
For the RA-TECH bits, try tacticalquartermaster.co.uk - even if it is not listed on his site he'll be able to source it for you. Great customer service there :)

I thought your chrono was showing m/s untill i zoomed in, that is mental.

Yeah i replaced the rubber seal with loctite gasket maker and soaked the knocker valves in transmission fluid hopefully they'll be ok, they arrived dry as a bone (presumably because they can't ship them pressurised by air?)

Funnily enough tactical quartermaster is where i bought the NPAS but the other bits he was out of stock, i think i'll give him a bell and see if he can get the other bits.

Cheers

Its shocking that £40 magazines turn up broken isn't it! I remember ordering a few to arrive a day before a skirmish, needless to say they turned up and leaked like crazy so I couldn't use them :(
Its also worth dropping a tiny bit of silicone lubricant on the mags intake nozzle before inserting a co2 cartridge (or on the top of the co2 cart itself), unless your co2 carts contain lube too. I found 'crossman' branded co2 carts had far too much lube in them and would just cause jams where the barrel was caked in silicone so ended up buying bulk loads of co2 carts with no lube.
TQ have been great for me, often asked him to acquire bits that were not on his website or showing out of stock and he's always been happy to help!
Brilliant rifles though once all the problems are ironed out and all the rubbish bits replaced :)

I have an ICS AK74 Tactical with a front grip. The grip has a built in flashlight which has stopped working. I've tried putting in new CR123 batteries in the handle still no joy, only the little side LED one's light up.

Here's a picture of the bulb, how do I get a replacement one?

I haven't been Airsoft-ing in too long, my 'local' site is GMA Tuddenham. CBA to dig out a photo but I run a CA MP5 and TM M1911A when I can be bothered :P Need a holster for the pistol though :(

This thread kicked up my interest for airsoft again and to see if my old stuff still works I was going to run a through rounds through my Tanka AICS. Turns out something has happened after being in storage for over a year and the mag has a real tough time going into the mag well, I really I have to push it in there and even when it's in the bolt doesn't lock in smoothly and then it takes a fair bit of force to pull the mag out. :(

I have no idea what the hell happened after all this time. The last thing I did with the gun was to install a new hop-up rubber and housing, but I don't see how this could cause mag problems, and I'm pretty sure the mag went in fine at the time. I guess I may not be getting back into airsoft afterall.

Oh well, moral of the story, take care of your equipment or it may just end up with problems that seem to have no solution.

The Tanaka works AICS's were made out of cast zinc which was "blued" - sometimes the Zinc oxidizes leaving crusty white residue on the outside. see if there's any of that on the magazine's body and the inside of the Magwell.

How come any randomer can walk into a shop and buy an air rifle yet airsoft is so strictly regulated? :/

because Air Rifles and Pistols are legally defined as "low powered Firearms" and not mere imitations.

The penalties for crimes committed with Air Weapons are substantially higher than for Airsoft Replicas in most circumstances.

i had a g3 running 1200 rpm then i broke it lol

I built an M4 around a G&P v2 gearbox that was doing about 30 rounds per second :D

it was still doing about 20r/s when we took it down to a 7.4 Li-Po and is still working as far as i know :D
