Airsoft ??

The Tanaka works AICS's were made out of cast zinc which was "blued" - sometimes the Zinc oxidizes leaving crusty white residue on the outside. see if there's any of that on the magazine's body and the inside of the Magwell.

I've had a look and I can't see any white residue. I did take a picture (sorry for the poor phone focus)

I've circled a few areas in red in the mag well where there has been some rubbing between the mag and the mag well wall and the mag release catch to the point where the bear metal can be seen. The long style mag can be inserted about 1-2 cm before it starts to require more force to push in, and once it feels like it's fully in, it still has a bit play and doesn't engage the mag release, I can just pull it out (with a bit of force).

I've read somewhere that if left with propane or HPA in the mag, it is possible to warp the mag, could this have happened as I did leave some green gas in it over the years to keep the seals good, although it wasn't full.

Hi all,

I want to get a two tone starter, automatic rifle if possible, I dont want to be paying £180+ but want something half decent, whats the best option?

I have between £50-£100 to spend on a starter, must have good range and accuracy

Bit out of your budget, but the G&G Combat Machine range is supposed to be good for starters. You can pick up a new one for around £130. For your budget, I'd be thinking about grabbing a second hand weapon, but of course there are the usual hazards with buying second hand.

I am looking for AGM MP031 M4 Rifle (Full Metal) two tone or similar, I like stuff that they use in the armed forces, but need something thats accurate and with fair distance. Any of the SA80 guns any good? (distance and accuracy)

I am looking at credit card in a funny way :( do I dont I ha!

Seen a few well guns.

I was not impressed personally, and that's a bit of an understatement. Build quality was poor, naff hops, poor electrics, you name it. The one you linked makes some bold statements about quality and range, take them with a pinch of salt. It also has a plastic body, so if you are heavy handed.......

For that price i'm sure you can get a G&G Combat machine or possibly an SRC Gen 3 (you don't want gen 2).

What do you want it for, skirmishing or 'other'?

The unfortunate thing about airsoft though is you can buy a £300 rifle that has undergone little-no quality control and it will perform worse than a £150 rifle. It's probably the only sport where you spend mucho wedge and expect whatever you buy to have problems.

Every manufacturer and their granny makes M4s, so i would go for reputable manufacturers (quite a few have been posted already). For not much more you might be able to get a KWA, G&P are about double the price. As mentioned, G&G probably your best bet. Most retailers will two-tone for a price.

Although with the one you link the body has been two-toned, which is great as it means in order to modify an IF (Imitation Firearm) into a RIF (Real Imitation Firearm), you need to buy a whole new reciever.

That looks a lot better.

You may need to invest in more/better batteries, a better charger and some more magazines (again, assuming you are going to skirmish).

Also i have no idea on the quality of the BBs supplied but unless they are polished .20 grams i'd bin them and get some better ones.

If you become a member of the required associations can you purchase guns that look real or do you have to have certain parts of the gun painted?

I so want to get into Airsoft.

If you have a defense against the VCRA you can purchase whatever you want (although to skirmish, it needs to be under the limit of the site you intend to play at - 350 FPS or less).

This will come in the form of becoming a member of a site (usually playing no less than 3 games, in no less than 2 months). After that you can also become part of the UKARA scheme which makes purchasing both here and abroad much easier.

Look at your local sites, most offer a rental package in order for you to gain your membership, but avoid buying a two-tone gun,

You must be over 18 to purchase either type though.

Beyond that it becomes very site specific on FPS limits etc. Also sniper rifles tend to come with a minimum engagement distance (as bolt action rifles can be exempt from the percieved UK power limits) a lot of sites will require you to prove you can judge distance and generally not be a retard as the danger and risk of injury increased.

A defense against the VCRA? What is that all about?

I think I will try to get someone to go along with and try out some rental stuff and games first. Once a member of the UKARA you can then buy guns that dont have to be painted silly colours?

If you become a member of the UKARA can you then re-spray a gun? also whats the deal with using two tone guns on skirmish days

You can respray a gun once you're UKARA registered.

Some Airsoft Sites are fine with two-tones, others will insist that the bright bits are covered up with camo-tape or something like that for the duration of the games. :)

I shouldnt need to respray with this gun apparently, they sell the black parts which you can replace

The local site doesnt allow sprayed guns even if registered, however they may accept if I am registered and buy the black parts
