Airsoft ??

Yeah, I would not buy a GBB for your first gun, for a sidearm yes like a pistol, but for your prime gun, it's best to stay with a normal one since that will work all the time and with little or no maintenance.

That said, if you feel okay with stripping the gun every so often, go for it!

What Magnifier are you using?

y'know i can't remember what brand it is, but it's a decent enough one (compared to a lot of the terrible ones on amazon for whom "holding zero" isn't in their vocabulary) think it's 3x. originally had a qd mount which was a bit of a pita but i've recently changed that for a utg flip mount which is a pita to move but at least it holds zero ok.

mostly i don't use it for getting hits- you can do that fine with a red dot, but it's great for those "not sure if enemy or tree" moments

Yeah, I been looking at a lot of them eBay and Amazon ones that are £25 or £30, I heard such a mix bag of stories about them, from they working pretty decent for their price to them losing their zero when you flip it up or down and that the flip switch breaks in the end.

There is also them fixed types, where you can change the zoom for the same price.

UTG does good ones, but they expensive at £70-£100 or more.

yeah the cheap ones don't hold zero at all, i did try one but returned it immediately as you'd be lucky the dot was even in the field of view let alone centred.

if you want it for show, or just as a seperate magnifier (ie not combined with the red dot) the cheap ones are ok but if you want it for use with the red dot you have to splash out.

i'd love one of those 1/4x selectable spectre style scopes, although supposedly those 1-x variables aren't truly 1x like a dedicated red dot would be.

I'm looking to get into airsoft :D can't wait! Going to make it a primary hobby next to gaming

Yeah have fun with that, you'll be spending the next 5 years wanting to upgrade your rig and wondering where all your money has gone, meanwhile you'll spend every sunday driving to a game hoping you dont get pulled and have to explain why your car is better armed than some small nations....

For starters get yourself some proper good eye pro, a good pair of boots, and a set of camo. A half mask would also be a smart move especially if you play indoors and like having teeth.

Mtp is the in thing right now but personally i find good ol' dpm or flecktarn is very effective and surplus can be gotten relatively cheaply.

Also gloves arent a bad shout, theres plenty of expensive tactical style options but personally i use a £5 amazon fingerless pair.

Then just go play, renting guns aint so bad and itll give you a flavour of the game before you go drop hundreds on a pew pew, plus getting ukara sorted before you buy saves you having to put up with the plague that is 2 tone.

My advice is a cheap pair of green or cammo trousers from army surplus for about 12 quid.

Flectarn camo shirt/jacket from eBay for about 6 quid (German arnt surplus)

Camo hat about £6 quid

Eye pro I got bolle cobra for about £10 quid from scrwwfix and can over face mask with mesh eyes that fits over the bolle for an extra protection for another £10 that covers mouth nose and cheeks.

Gun, couple of hi cap mags.

I don't have a side arm but haven't needed one either.

So you don't need to spend the earth on this .

Started myself a month or so ago, been playing at the killhouse in Leeds (in door cqb style) great fun to be had!

Already turned very expensive for me , aside from all the protection and clothing I've also bought an ICS G33, WE G17, G&G GK5C (for out doors) and an ares ameoba am 08!!

Looking forward to my first outdoor all day jaunt.

Prepare to lose all your money :P

Picked up a TM MK23 yesterday and a few spare ASG mags to go with it and the SRS suppressor ready for a game tomorrow near Dundee. Didn't fancy bringing my G&G Raider-L up on the flight (hassle) and large rig so bought a duty / battle belt and a dual pouch to run with it. Should be good fun :D

There's a certain satisfaction in running pistol only, last game my ak and m4 died so i spent the day trolling snipers with my we 226 that shoots better than can be logically explained.

A friend did this for a stag do a few weeks ago. Reminded me I really want to give it a go. Sounds ******* brilliant. Any suggestions for places near Manchester or Southampton ?
I've recently started playing it a bit as some workmates are massively into it. I'm north east manc - so I've been going to Halo Mill in Huddersfield and Sou Kula in Oldham. Halo mill is all indoor cqb and tbh, it's better on a week night with only 10-12 ppl there, when it's full with 30+ people it's a bit too busy. Sou Kula is a mix of indoor and out, with a 2 storey building next to a scrap yard, so a lot of attack/defend the building games.

Outdoor, that i can think of:
Anzio by Leek bit of a drive and bit of a mixed bag. nice but soo poorly run - might have just been a bad day with them assuming that everyone knew the layout/locations. Sure, might have been a 1 off, but then I saw a YouTube review of the place which echo'd our experience. Probably good if you go a lot.

Sou Kula Quarry - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xsroxK3qm4 outdoor evening session from the guys in Oldham. I think it's up north of Rochdale near Backup. Not been yet... runs 5pm to 1am, so sounds a bit mental - as long as it isn't a pay to win affair with those with night optics dominating.

Blackburn - dunno the name of the place, or location, just somewhere near Blackburn. Someone at work seems to go every other sat. sounds v much in its infancy and just setting up.

I think there's also some places down by Stockport and I'm sure there must be some over to west of the city.

and, yeah, like the others have said, it soon saps some $ when you're starting out, much like all hobbies. As I've mainly been indoors, I've not bothered with camo (yet) but it's on the cards as I'm just going to destroy my jeans otherwise. Eye pro and face mask, but my Bolle tracker kept fogging so just got a paintball mask. Started looking at guns and now have a ARP9, but that leads to spare mag, a couple batteries, lipo charger, sight, torch, BBs etc. Now looking at a Socom pistol, but trying to restrain myself...

Thanks for the reply. Will have a look into those! I can certainly see it sapping £££ but hell, it’ll be fun. I’ve already got some camo gear. Trying to find a weekend with a few mates to get involved with. Would be a group of 4 of us who would be interested.

Hi I started at sou kula and have done both into It and outdoor at the quarry.

The quarry isn't pay to win but on a windy day anything less than a 0.45 sniper rifle is going to be singing into the wind.

I'd say the quarry is more of a hike with some shooting I probably did about 10 kicks that day.

I'd like to do more outdoor but not necessarily at the quarry.

My tracer unit was fun though!

Haha yeah i expect this to drain my bank account very quickly. Luckily i can save about 1K from work every month. It's just annoying that i have to wait a couple of months before i can start buying sexy guns, but i already know what i want.

My local gun shop owns large woodland nearby and do events every 2 weeks so for now i'll be renting their equipment until they can legally sell to me.

Then i'll grab some combat trousers and vest from my local surplus. I'm dreaming of an m4 carbine with silencer, scope and eventually a torch for night time battles, maybe a sniper rifle and a g18 or m1911.

Also, i'll inform the police what i have and my car reg just to save the hassle.

To be honest this is the lifestyle change i need, spent too many years raving and partying....gave that up and spent too many years inside gaming.

This will sort me out proper ;)

Anyway, Watching silo entertainment on youtube made me want to get into this. This guest he invites kills it
