Akasa A-62 AMD x6 *Zosma* build

You need the following files on a USB drive

ahcix64s.cat
ahcix64s.inf
ahcix64.sys

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=M4A88T-V+EVO/USB3&p=1&s=24 > Choose Windows 7 64bit > Utilities > AMD SATA RAID/AHCI Driver files for Windows 32/64bit XP & 32/64bit Vista& 32/64bit 7.(WHQL)

Download and extract

The files are in the folder AMD_RAID_AHCI_XPVISTAWIN7\RAID\Driver\Win 7\Raid\x64

Put them in the root of a USB drive, install them during setup. Windows should then see your volume on install, as cmdr_andi says it will show as one volume

When they were in RAID then they weren't seen as "two WD raptor drives", they were seen as "AMD RAID Drive", which no doubt has drivers built into windows so it is easily picked up.

You will want to find the exact model number of your raptor 36GB drive, download the drivers and load them onto the USB stick/CD. We can help if you tell us the model number.

They wernt seen as amd raid drive, it was just a 66gb partition

its pretty much 100% a driver problem, any of you guys be kind enogh to get me a link for the AMD SB710 raid drivers download, as the asus ones dont work, or my motherboard, or possibly my drives are bricked

Or possibly you're doing it wrong? The Asus x64 RAID drivers for the 890GX/SB850 series work fine, and I suspect they are the same

where am i going wrnog,
all devices presant in bios
set mode to raid
go into raid bios
set up a 128kb strip with the 2 raptors, with optionals of or on (didnt make a difference)

boot to windows cd, set up custom, and everything till i get to the hdd screen.
it shows a 66gb partition or unallocated space, you try to format it, and it git formats fine
you try loading the asus drivers pick win7 x64 raid, and get a error saying unnasigned drivers.
then when you click on the volume and click next it gives you another error message.
the error message when trying to continue is "setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. see the setup log files for more information

It is possible, do you have an alternate disk to hand? AFAIK, so long as you have a valid license key then you can legally download a new copy of windows off microsoft.

As d_brennen says, if you can get x86 working now then I would run with that and get your system working. You will lose a bit of RAM, but in the scheme of things it isn't much. It should tide you over until the point where you can afford a proper primary HDD like a Samsung F3 500GB (£30), when you can reinstall and run X64 (plus have all your games/apps on the primary disk).

That said, have you tried running some tests on the raptor drives in an existing PC, to ensure they are working correctly?

no tests, but i have had them both induvidualy hold a working os

Trying a different windwos disc to rule out a windows 7 problem

same problem on a legitiment copy

could my problem be related to the fact i couldnt see them in the windows setup after unraiding?
the error is suggesting it is having troubles creating the 100mb system partition

May I ask what OS these drives were running before? Was it XP?

If so you may want to consider running that for the time being. It's not as slick as win7 but it should get the job done and will play most of your games fine.
