Ok i decided to buy the below brackets to mount the hard drives
into the 5'25 bay and thus get more airflow down below

OK so here's what they look like attached to a hd

Not as simple as i first thought they have to be screwed in a specific way
and was very fiddly but i got there in the end.So i took the Hard drive
bay and floppy bays out

and completed customary side shot

So did i achieve what i set out to do which was reduce vibrations
and increase airflow? yes it would seem so my barton 2800 now seems to
be stable under load sticking at 54-55c before it would reach 58-60
overall a job well done but i will keep an eye on the hard drive
tempereatures though. And may yet revert back to the original configuration and use rubber grommets on the hdd bay the 5'25 brackets were cheap so
not an expensive white elephant...
Apologies for phone pics.

Looking very Tidy geff_r.

How much has it dampened the noise of the HD?

I can't help but notice, is that CPU fan sucking air from the fins?? If so have you tried it the other way so that the air is blowing over the fins (Ive always found this lowers temps)

The fan blades. Its looking like the blades are taking heat away from the processor instead of blowing onto the fins. I find the later quieter and more effective. Tried it with many h/s fans.

Yes you were right at some point probably after a cleaning ive put in wrong way
it's back blowing over fans but its the same temp either way 46 idle 54-55 load
thanks for the spot though.I think this cooler was designed to work either way must be if it's exact same temp.

Where is the spaces for the Fans? I know about the one on the back but what about the front? Mines running a bit hot with no fans in at the moment but im hoping to put my Scythe Fans in there. I like the look of the white cathodes. Anyway, heres mine:

Looking good! what are the watercooling specs?
Quite low. XSPC blocks and pump, and an Alphacool NexXxos Extreme II rad.

Also, how do you rate the DS3? as i am looking to get one
I love it.

cob is it easy to change the leds? :p
No idea. I just have a single blue LED positioned behind the them. It's strong enough to hide the green, but it still 'blinks' when the HDD is accessed.

There's a 120mm fan slot between the hard drive cage and the front panel.
