Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

not always true :p if you keep it tidy ish when going along it saves a lot of time later on

well when i did my build i got the psu wires sorted out first (routing behind mobo tray etc) and then went ahead and tried to sort other wires out after it was completed.

the eclipse looks really nice though. i want one ! ... its either the eclipse, lian li pc7 or antec 900 for my next case.

is there a lot of room in the eclipse ?

i can definitely reccomend the eclipse as far as room, some of the pictures on this thread give a good idea of the amount of space available inside the case:)

Oh my god is there a lot of space!

Even with my motherboard in there I honestly think I could get an additional microATX board in next to it! (Although i'd never try that ;))

I'm *really* impressed with this case, ain't been this happy since my.... my....

...nope, this is the best case i've owned! :D

On a side note, BFG9000 do you use MSN? Any chance you could add me for a chat?

I was suggesting cable management is *primarily* the last thing you concentrate on once you have finished a build... I wire all my components last, as wiring during a build can at times restrict hand movement in the case and they also seem to get in the way...

Hi M8.. Yes I do have MSN, are you having any problems with your build...

The pictures in this thread will give you a good idea of the amount of room in the Eclipse..:) I have tried other cases on the market over the last few years and I have always gone back to the Akasa Eclipse 62.. Lots of space, good cooling, every panel removable, optional windowed & fanned panels, a breeze to build in... I could go on!!! I highly recommend buying this case...;)

To all the Eclipse owners, am thinking of returning due to rubbish experience with Lian Li A70.

Couple of questions..to cool an sli setup, should I

1. Just buy the optional side panel with fan, and leave my 2 hard drives in the stock hard drive bay. I'm aware airflow is blocked leaving the drives in this bay, but sidepanel might help.

or

2. Move my 2 drives to the top 5.25" bay to improve cooling (and possibly still get the sidepanel).

My 2nd question is if I move the 2 drives, what is the best way to cool the drives and quieten them a little in the 5.25" bay. They are Samsung F1's so not partcularly noisy or hot running.

1. Buy 2 of these smardrive silencers. A bit pricey. And not sure if I still need active cooling. Case would look a bit pants with these exposed out the front which they say you need to do to channel air.

2. Buy the 2 silencers above, and also fit a Kama Bay cooler in the front to cool them. Loosing 3 drive bays that way though.

3. Just go with the Kama Bay, and mount the drives with some nexus anti-vib 5.25" to 3.5" adaptors. Cheapest option.

4. Get an icy dock like some have done, but I hear the 80mm fan is noisy and it's not a normal un, so can't be volt modded easily.

Thanks in advance

lol :p

I really love the look of the case and am seriously considering getting one but really wanted to know about the cooling on air potential as it gets a bit expensive changing cases all the time!

The cooling on air potential is fantastic, I have built a lot of high spec systems around this case and all my components have kept nice and chilled, look at my last build log in this thread to see..

Hi Guys,

Whats the cooling like on air with this case?

It'll have a [email protected], 8800GTS 512mb, 4-6 H/D's, etc.... so it'll be a little bit toasty :)

Otherwise thinking of going to the Lian-Li V2000+II?

So can anyone convince me to join the Akasa club ;)

Thanks all

The potential cooling offered by the Eclipse should be absolutely fine for all that. I'm pretty sure you will see decent temps too.

Here is an update on mine since I swapped the mobo and added a fan controller and hd cooler etc.

I also attatched a spare 120mm fan to the bottom of the 5.25 cage, hopefully aiding airflow :p
