Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

Ran out of native cables on my HX520 :(

Looks terrible inside the case right now thanks to two 6 pin to dual molex connectors and 2 molex bridge cables.

Will be ordering a new psu (quattro/realpower 1kw) and redo the watercooling at the same time.

Should be good once I've done that, till then it's too embarrassed to post it. :o:(

Would be good to see a before and after shot...

ive got the akasa amber 120mm fan and its not led ... why does everyone think it is ?

its very quiet and pushes a decent amount of air. dont know if its the best in the world though

Yate loon (1300RPM), Sharkoon (1000), Scythe S-flex (1200), Noctua (1200)

All good fans... Towards the right = better but more expensive!

Could be the first watercooling Akasa Eclipse 62 diary on this thread coming soon....;) looking forward to seeing build, N1 M8 :D

second diary if you count my mirage in to the equation :P

Finally got fed up with my noisy seagate 7200.9 drives vibrating the whole of the lame 5x hard drive bay in my mirage 62. Bought some of the 3.5" to 5.25" scythe bay convertors and they CONSIDERABLY reduce the amount of noise of the hard drives!!

I now have my new WD drives in the 5x hard drive bay and thankfully they do not make much noise there. I still think it was bad designing on akasa's part not to include some kind of rubber grommet included in the bay to help reduce noise.

I now have 5 hard drives in my mirage 62, 2 of which had to be place in a 3rd party product due to poor design of the case. A really expensive case for...not a lot really.

I had already bought a kama bay to help reduce temps but now I am going to have to mod my case side tomorrow to put in another 120mm fan - have purchased some "rubber suspension kit" so that the fan doesn't vibrate on the side of the case.

ive noticed with my eclipse my hard drive is the single loudest component inside it, i only run 1 hard drive in the rig, a 250gb western digital sata 2, i keep most other stuff on a 250gb external usb hard drive, my rig is going through a bit of a change at the minute, upgrading to a q6600 and a new 780i mobo and later when finances permit a second 8800gts 512 and a corsair hx 620 psu but i could do with dulling the noise of the hard drive, when it starts going it makes the case side panel vibrate a bit:(

to make mine quiet i used "C" trim/edging and as much of the door panels as possible, makes it a lot quieter than without it :)

Dont get me started on the side panels! I put a bit of bluetac on the inside to help it out, and I also found "tweaking" the thumb screws ever so slightly will make it go from vibrating to not vibrating - you just need to get them right.

Some pics of my side panel which I just drilled some holes in today to add another 120mm fan:

Its a cold day today anyway, but my temps before were 27-28c CPU (idle), and 51c for my 8800GT. Now they are 23-24C for my CPU and 46c for my 8800GT. When it was warm the other day my idle temp was 39-40c so I thought I better prepare for the summer, especially as my southbridge and memory were HOT to the touch, and I am not even running overclocked!

Hey mate, sorry to drag this back up - but I managed to get hold of some orange cable sleeving a while ago but I just cant work out how to get the cables through it! If I start pushing them through it, it starts fraying like mad!!!

you need to take the connectors of the end (if its for fan wires etc) then what i do is, grip the end of the braiding, compact the strip of braiding so the mouth of the braid gets bigger, then slide the cable in to it, the repeat whilst moving the cable further and further up the braid, until you nearly covered it all, cut the braid a little more than you need, slide it down a bit more til the end isnt covered by the braid, then heatshrink the end to stop it moving and wal-la (sp?) your done :)

Hacked up my precious Eclipse last night, went for a front mount of the Rad in the end and it worked a treat:

Here is the basic CPU loop that will be going in:

Leak testing as I type. :D

As you can see from the previous pics the rad lines up nicely with the FDD bays, as such i'll be removing the covers and gettng some mesh to mount behind to the rad has a nice vent.

Also I plan on putting some mesh/acrylic/plate down the side of the rad/drivebays to stealth the rad/fan setup and the cut bays.

More pics later when I rebuild it all!

Hmm ok thanks, how do I take the connectors off the end and attach them back on? :p
