Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

Hey guys, been a while since I've posted in here but I'm after some help and opinions on my Eclipse chasis. In my rig at the moment I have;

Gigabyte P35-DS3R Mobo
Enermax Liberty 550W Modular PSU
E8400 CPU with Noctua NH-U12P cooler (with 120mm Noctua fan)
4 x 1GB Geil PC2-6400C4 800MHz memory
2 x 150GB Velociraptor HDDs
1 x 320GB WD HDD (SATA)
1 x 500GB WD HDD (SATA)
LG BluRay Drive (SATA)
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB with Thermalright T-Rad2 cooler (2 x 92mm Red Wing fans)

Current cooling;

2 x Akasa AK-183-L2B Amber Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan case fans
Antec SpotCool System Cooler aimed towards VRM chips on GFX

How does this rate? It can get quite hot so just wondered if there was any ways I could improve the airflow and cooling. I was looking at the Nexus PCI Slot Ventilation Brackets to replace my current PCI covers

love this case had it awhile now just trying to think of how to improve cooling as wel as planning to put in a GTX280 to replace my 8800GT which is a good card..

Any idea's dont fancy the side panel as i want to keep my clear panel ad looks cool

Akasa do 120mm fanned side panels that are generic to Eclipses, Mirages & Omegas... would add the extra cooling that you require ;)

Not a bad idea, but the side panel which would have the fan on is next to the wall so wouldnt be able to get much air in/out :(

Looking to get the Zalman fan controller which is on offer this week as a way of connecting all my fans as I've ran out of mobo connectors. Is the Zalman ok?

A few changes moved hdd's to 5'25 bay

Would be a tricky job to get 4 hdd in there but possible, although you could always leave the floppy bay attached and put a drive in there.
Or bungee suspend 2 from the bottom of the 5'25 bay.

Looks good c64. like the bungee straps on the hdd's. Will have to get some pics uploaded of my recent changes, bunged in a kama bay and stuck 2x sharkoon silent eagle 2000rpm fans on my TRUE, soon to add a pair of 74gb raptors in raid0 and an akasa junior fan controller as the sharkoon fans are a bit loud at full speed.

Does look good C64...will probably leave the floppy drive in like you say as I want to get an Akasa fan controller to fit in there as well seeing as my fans are now building up to the point I've ran out of on board connectors....put my two velociraptors and the 500gb in bungee straps as they will be the most commonly used, and put the 320gb into the floppy bay

Dont know why but cant help but think the karma bay spoils the look of the eclipse slightly...might just be because I'm not used to it

Really need to do something I think as I cant imagine much air coming in through the front fan when I've got 4 HDDs in the HDD bays

There is a gap left but that could be resolved by a simple strip of plastic or rubber wedged in there and as you know the the eclipse doesn't photo that well the plastic always looks worse than it is, the kama bay looks quite good better than the pic suggests.
Don't have to use elastic, black string would probably look better i just saw some in a pound shop and got it on a whim it's like band aid for hard drives.

Don't blame you...cant beat the pound shop, plus its at the top inside the case so no one will really see it.

Will have a look in my local pound shops over the weekend to see if I can get some...will probably try the kama bay, get some xmas shopping done first so I dont feel as guilty about spending more money on my pc

Thought i would just post some pic's of my PC sorry about the bad qulity of the photos...

As you can see i have hid my floopy drive behind the plate so can not be seen as you might need it some day...

I am going to take the 3 covers of the drive bays to fit a fan for more cooling and i also plan to make a hole in the top of the case to install a 120mm fan to help take heat out the case as well....

all this as i am planning to install ether a GTX 260 or 280 not sure what yet....will also need to replace my Akasa 500watt PSU for more power..

Noob here: My main PC is old, really old - but it does more or less what I want it to do and i have my PS3 for the latest games I want to play.

That said, reading these forums and this thread in particular has made me realise that my rig shouldn't be under the desk, and that although I thought the Thermaltake Tsunami Dream was cool when I was 18, maybe it's not so cool at 23 :)!

I've decided that it needs to come back to the top of the desk and some of your builds have really inspired me. I don't have a grand to spend on re-vamping everything but I do have enough to get the outside looking respectable in time for an update of the ancient guts in the new year. So I just spent some money at OCuk on the following parts, hoping that they come tomorrow:

Akasa Omega Aluminium Case - Black
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7201S 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter (Black)
Akasa AK-PAX-2 PaxMate Plus Acoustic Absorption Mat
Akasa Eclipse 62 Window Side Panel £12.99
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 120mm Fan
