Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

The Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P60B's main advantage is the *3* 120mm fans built into the door, so much easier to clean when I do my case maintenance. The Akasa has one major flaw thet I have found with its front 120mm fan assembly, to clean the front fan and filter as you know both side panels have to be removed, then the front bezel has to be removed which with shovel sized hands I did find difficult trying to press the clips in to release the panel. With the introduction of the Omega I was hoping they were going to improve the ease of access to the front fan, mabey make the whole door on a hinge with the fan behind without having to remove every panel for cleaning... Roll on the Akasa Eclipse V5 :)

I totally agree mate. I think you're like me and like to run as dust free pc as possible. Cleaning the filter on the akasa is a bit of a bitch tbh especially if its a frequent event. My new lian li has its intake at the back so i've added an external filter that just pops off the back without removing anything.

The akasa chassis needs a pop off front systems and needs to get rid of those plastic clips.

The thing with lian li's is they are designed and build from the ground up with an individual design each time. The akasa chassis is 10 years old and while little changes are made they never do anything radical with it. This approach has its good and bad points. Obviously its a classic that doesn't need a major improvement overall but there's a couple of things that could really elevate it to great heights.

I do question how much akasa really can do, I mean the slightly ill fitting panels are still present, the mobo trays always slightly kinked etc. Seems that every version they've really just removed something from the design but never added much.

A lot of people use the front PCI slot for cathode switches or usb connections that are mounted on PCI plates.... saves going to the back of your PC for connecting & disconnecting components. Hope this helps you :)

Yes it does help me but, every time i've look for a USB connection the wires are to short.

Hi Akasa Eclipse 62 lovers. :) I come in peace!

Thinking about getting a new PC in the next few days if certain things fall into place. ;) Thinking of buying the Akasa Omega. I was wondering about the PaxMate2 kit. I'm not 100% convinced it would make a huge difference to the noises coming from the case. However I do like how the material looks good on the bottom of the case as I've seen in quite a few photos from this thread.

So my question is, does the PaxMate come with a pre-cut bit of material that would exactly fit the bottom of the Omega? The Omega and Eclipse 62 are the same size so if anyone who's put PaxMate on the bottom of their Eclipse 62 could tell me if they just laid the material down or had to cut it to size I'd be most grateful. :)

Once I get the PC, sooner rather than later I hope, then I will of course reward you with pics, if I'm allowed to post Omega pics in here? :p

The paxmat 2 I think (basically the more expensive one) comes with 4 pieces. Two of which fit the bottom perfectly without the need to cut. I (and BFG) don't even stick them down that way you can remove and shake off or replace when every.

And they dont make any difference to the noise level, you need proper foam for that IMO.

The PaxMate2 kit is more for looks than for noise reduction, all the Akasa's I have built I have used the base mat which looks really good in the case..

Omega pics are very welcome in this thread, it is as you know part of the Akasa family..:) Look forward to seeing your Build in progress pictures.

Im going to massacre my top panel soon am going to cut a square hole directly above the power supply area for a 120 mm extraction fan or grill to let the heat out in that problem area.

No idea why people cut circles out, square looks much better imo.
Am going to use a cheap junior hacksaw and standard issue file.

Couple of warnings about putting in PaxMate (from my experience).

Don't put down the base PaxMate until you've checked how easily you can get your drive cage in/out, and be aware that you can't cover the side/top panels entirely as the PaxMate will put up a lot of resistance to sliding them on.

If you are having trouble putting the panels on due to it gripping, put the panels on as far as possible and leave them for 10 minutes. Take off the panel and you'll see where the pressure points are (the PaxMate will go flat). Get a knife and remove the pressured PaxMate. Usually it'll be the PaxMate closest to the rear of the case.

Oh, and it does have some effect on fan noise - definately noticed it cut out higher frequencies, but had little effect on the lower end.

Excellent. I had done a bit of reading in this thread and I wasn't planning on sticking it down but just plonking it in and taking it out to help with dust. :) Also quite aware I'd not get any noise reduction. :p

Yeah, I saw some photos of Akasa cases with the material at the bottom and it does make the cases look very sexy indeed. :o

Excellent. Hopefully soon I shall have some pics for you. :D

Was only going to put PaxMate on the bottom. Don't really fancy covering all the sides for the effort to cut stuff and the unlikely noticeable gains. :)
