Nope, Ive seen how high their peaks are, you obviously haven't. No need to kid. Not any more:)

Who`s peaks? I agree that decline is disturbing, but never climbing the hill seems to be the biggest waste. Would rather get airlifted off the peak than walk around the mound. I`m sure that the majority of ex-players wouldn`t give their careers up for want of missing out on the decline.

Why don't you try reading my comments other than my hatred?

There's a few players that have done the dirty on Leeds, and my thoughts on them are as described.

He's still the worst.
Gilly I did read your comments. It certainly wasn't a veiled attack. I am speaking from experience of Leeds fans through the years.

In respect of Smithy what was he supposed to do ? Leeds were holding out for absolute maximum highest dollar they could get. Three clubs in for him. Utd, Newcastle and Liverpool. Newcastle and Liverpool offered less for Smith and with defered payments also. Utd came in with a cash bid higher than the rest. So if he held out and said no I want to goto Liverpool or Newcastle the board would not allow it because of the debt. So he then gets accused by the fans of being selfish as the club could get more money for him. Now he goes to UTD and again it's his fault. If anything, it was the board of directors at Leeds that allowed Smith to become a scapegoat in the eyes of the Elland Road faithfull. Damned whichever club he moved to.

I dont agree he is the worse of the lot.

Alan Smith hasn't had a career yet, that's the point:)

Saying that Beckham has no natural talent whatsoever is just silly, for want of a less condescending word. Have you seen the videos of him as a very young lad?:)

Beckham is one of those players I spotted coming on as sub etc for MU 'before he got famous' circa 1994 and doing very well. What used to amaze me was how hard he could strike a football, I remember one game where he was running down the right wing (far side from the camera view) and he just blasted in a shot from 30 yards way out on the touchline. Nowadays he is more known for his crossing ability and curl/accuracy he can put on freekicks (obviously something he's honed a lot over the years), but back then he had an outstanding shot.

As for the issue at hand, some people don't like certain footballers and aren't unhappy to see bad things happen to them. It just happens that Smith is one of those players (take a look at the "dirtiest premiership player" thread in SA Archive... Smith's name crops up quite frequently in there).

I'd feel for any player who sustained such an injury, apart from that long haired spitting racist (**sevic?) scumbag & the odd Turk or 2.

^You can see from this quote that, in fact, it isn't *any* player, there are some players that he reserves hate for. In this case, a couple of people obviously don't like Alan Smith. Why should we be allowed to hate Mijhalovic and some turks but not Smith?

One of my earliest memorys of Beckham was seeing him in the MU magazine
that i used to get when i was younger it was a piece focusing in the youth team
and there was Beckham and the Nevilles on holiday in Corfu or somewhere in a boat LoL

The shot your on about Hangtime, aint the one when he came on as sub against
Galatasary in the CL when it was the 3 foreigner rule?

I thought it was in the cup against Port Vale when the press went ape saying UTD had no respect for the cup fielding so many youngsters. Scholes got the winner.

Might be wrong though

To be honest I can't remember exactly who it was against, but I'm fairly sure it was a midweek game, because I remember telling my mate Mike about it at school the next day. I can just about picture it in my mind and I think MU were wearing a white kit (presumably one of their numerous 'away' kits) but I might be wrong. I'd been raving about Beckham for a while so I felt vindicated when in '96 Fergie started the season with him, he scored 'that' goal against Wimbledon, got the England call up, and well, the rest is history.

People may laugh but I actually reckon that as a young player, Jamie Redknapp had as much natural talent as Beckham. When him and Macca broke into the Liverpool I couldn't believe how good his passing was. I remember him bagging a hatrick for England U21s vs Austria and I was convinced he would be England captain one day. However it seems that bad luck with injuries and perhaps a less focussed attitude to training meant he never quite lived up to his potential, compared to Beckham.

Good thread.

Im with Sedm1000 to be honest.
A millionaire footballer injures his leg and we are all supposed to fawn over and pity him?
Nah , not me.There are millions of less fortunate people around.
If he doesnt play for my team then frankly I dont care whether he lives or dies.

Bad news for him and Man Utd fans but thats life.

A fella who works for us was killed on a site a month or so ago.
A pack of bricks fell on him from a scaffold above killing him instantly , his wife is now without a husband and the kids without a dad.
Lets get a bit of perspective here , eh?
