Alan Smith

People may laugh but I actually reckon that as a young player, Jamie Redknapp had as much natural talent as Beckham. When him and Macca broke into the Liverpool I couldn't believe how good his passing was. I remember him bagging a hatrick for England U21s vs Austria and I was convinced he would be England captain one day. However it seems that bad luck with injuries and perhaps a less focussed attitude to training meant he never quite lived up to his potential, compared to Beckham.

Redknapp was a fine player when he first started out.
However , he now bones Louise every night , so it aint that bad.

We are talking about football, anyone of us could bring up a story we've read or someone we knew dying in tragic circumstances, but this isn't what the thread is about though.
Lets get a bit of perspective here, eh?
What you mean like you?
If he doesnt play for my team then frankly I dont care whether he lives or dies.

I see where Vandles coming from in a way he just puts it bluntly

We all had a secret little chuckle when Owen broke his foot, Cisse his leg, The other
pool player that got done at blackburn

If its not your team you dont really give a monkeys

just because he earns a lot of money doesnt mean its alright if they get a horrific injury.

I didnt say it was alright , Im just saying it doesnt bother me that he's injured.
I can understand the Man Utd fans concerns and if it happened to Scott Parker , Shay Given or Alan Shearer I'd be gutted.
However it didnt , he doesnt play for my team and isnt an integral part of the world cup squad.

Wish people would just let this lie, hes suffered a bad injury, some people care, some people dont. The two are never going to agree, so why try?

Also both sets of fans came up with equally bad chants and even neville have said there was no problem with the chants as its part of the game.

Just let it lie.

im a die hard liverpool fan, was really bad for the lad, wish him a speedy recovery. It was good to see everybody doing their bit on the pitch to help him out; gerrard and cisse both going to smith to offer their support at what must have been a sickening site for all those involved. and credit to both medical teams.

As for leeds fans, probably the worst fans of all and i hope they stay where they are, and never come back to the premiership. The reactions of their fans on here is what i would have expected.

i hope woodgate gets shown a lesson or two against arsenal this week; dont think he deserves to be where he is; if he goes to the world cup over other world class defenders that we have ill hate sven!

Don't care whether he plays for my team or not, gloating over someone breaking his leg like that is plain low and those who have (not many in here) ought to be ashamed of themselves.

A fully fit Woody is as good as anything we have.

Agree with that.

Sorry he's good, but carragher, terry and probably rio are in a different ball park. outskirts of england team when on form (which aint to often) for me.

On the alan smith note, unfortunately this happens in football, no-one wants to see it, its not nice, but injuries happen in sport, glad it looks like he will get better(and I'm scouse fan) cisse's leg was as bad, there was talk of amputation, but look how quick he got back. He'll be back next season and everyone will forget about it.
Man utd need to look at their performance, and alex fergusen needs to look at why smith wasnt playing from the start, with our midfield they needed their own version of sissoko in the middle, he's the only thing close, giggs and fletcher got embarressed.

Good to see Smith talking with a sense of humour about it.

"When I looked, the leg was lying one way and my ankle was pointing towards Hong Kong so I knew I was in serious trouble,"

I actually thought Smith was older than 25. He's got time on his side. Who knows, by the time he gets back, we may have a decent midfield allowing him to play in his best position up front.

I doubt he'd get in up front. RvN and Rooney aren't going anywhere any time soon.

No, but he'd be reasonable back up. In a way, it'll be like getting a new player. Hopefully, Rossi will be knocking on the door when Smith gets back as well.

Looking on the bright side, buying a couple of midfielders is now a bigger priority than it was before..

I'm just hoping we have a midfield by the time he comes back. Ruud may be tempted to leave this summer, it all depends if a big club actually places an offer for him instead of talking about it for 3 months in the papers. And with our somewhat limited funds, Ferguson will have to sell a few players to bring some quality into the team. Rossi and Park should feature a lot more in games for the remainder of the season, if they don't.....well it just sums Ferguson up really..

Agreed. How can someone be so bitter about a player wanting to leave a club that was going no where fast due to their own miss management; to join a club that at the time was the best in the country. You only get one chance at any career and you want to make the most of it. I can understand that joining ManU was the ultimate insult, but that was the best offer he got.
