Alcohol and ability to consent

Maybe change the law so women can be done for rape as well? ( I realise that there's not many blokes that would admit to that). This might get me flamed but I wonder how much is dus to all this comp for being touched 20 years ago as its a similar situation.

To extrapolate from this, if a guy is drunk, has sex with a girl, and then she accuses him of rape, surely he also couldn't have consented, and therefore would be unable to have raped her?

Yup. I know 3 people who've had to face similar accusations. One of them even went to trial. Name in the papers, everything.

Was of course found not guilty. Was the woman charged with anything for dragging his name though the mud and wasting countless taxpayer money and police time? Of course not.

I'm completely honest about it, I did nothing wrong, but I was facing years in prison if she got what she wanted.

BUT ... my ex did once had her drink spiked or got drunk and ended up in some strangers house with do memory.

It's legal mess ... yes men do rape, yes some women lie.

No real requirement as women can be charged with serious sexual assault which carries the same penalties.

I think the current law is 'just' but ultimately it's just terribly difficult to enforce due to practical considerations and how humiliating it is for victims.

Well, since most people shag at least once a week, a lot of police time / paperwork is going to be wasted on 'rape' claims!

Oh yes, and this:

Man talks dirty to a woman = sexual harassment
Woman talks dirty to a man = £1.50 per minute

Great post.

You also have to wonder why some need to get their women so paralytic to get a shag.

Completely missed the point of this thread. There is a massive area between sober and paralytic. Which again varies from person to person.

At what point in this whole grey area is it rape? And also, how is it proven beyond reasonable doubt that no consent was given?

Hell, even if consent was given, a third party could now turn round and say, 'actually, she did consent, but she had too many drinks to officially consent. How did you not spot this whilst you was in your drunken state, you rapist.'

It's a mess. Stacked heavily against men.

Great post? You have some low standards.

Because drunk people in a club never hook up; ever. Interesting that you automatically assume the male has to get the woman paralytic.

Why? Sexual assault is charged in the same way and has the same sentencing guidelines.

I used to go clubbing loads (worked in them) been a fair few times I've been drunk and woken up next to someone without remembering it. Thankfully no complaints(or compliments hehe) :D.

Slightly worrying that I could have been prosecuted if this law was in effect.

Totally need to write an app. Sets an alarm off every couple of minutes to make sure they still consent upon completion they both certify that it was consensual after which app shuts down. If they miss a check in the app automatically alerts police with location.

Actually ... as dumb as ^ idea is (LOL), a periodic app with the users location, would use hardly any battery power and could be uploded to a site, or lat/longs on an email.

Met have issues dealing with the load of rape cases.

Suggested solution? Make all drunken one night stands 'rape', thereby meaning the Met would have to arrest 99% of all men.

Eh?
