*** Alien: Covenant ***

Very interesting. I think there is a slight variance, they have an android with them, but I think there is a second android, the one from Prometheus, on that planet, with that crashed ship from the Prometheus film.
He's been busy, working experimenting, following his own original protocols and logic.
He will continue his experiments upon the crew that land.

Is naoomi in this or not?

She's in it, but from what I've seen, no one knows if it's anything more than just flashbacks.

Might be flashbacks of the wonderful David carrying on the 'work' using what's left of her as his initial project.
I wonder is there no wildlife on the world due to his actions.
She might show up at the end and save the day by running sidewards this time.

Re: Alien Super ticket.

Do we know if this exclusive feature 'what happened to Dr Shaw' being shown between Prometheus and Alien is just a segment from Covenant or a separate feature not in the movie?

If it's the latter, I'd be interested to see this as it suggests it gives more details about Shaws fate that won't be in the movie.

Although a part of me does not want to spoil the surprise until I see Covenant.

Trailer is annoying the CGI alien looks so computerised, embarrassing considering a film made in 1979 looks better i wish they would go back old school.

This is a short 2 minute filler between the first and second films. It doesnt really spoil anything imo but not taking chances incase i get lynched. :D

Ok, I'm calling it...

Whilst the original David experiments on the engineers the real twist will be that his experiments on Naoomi's character is the source of the queen Alien

Yep the alien looks laughable because less is more. The confined shots, select lighting etc used to make the old school puppets and prosthetics look so good is in sharp contrast to CGI. Just because you can show a daylight full body alien leaping about on top of a moving spacecraft, doesn't mean you should! I just don't understand why the producers don't understand what made the original films so good.

Mystique and mystery give films longevity, Phantom Menace CGI fests do not...

The preview that released yesterday I imagine is going to be the start of the film but with extra scenes added which may explain why David:

Drops the eggs straight onto what I imagine are the engineers.

That's not eggs, it's urns

Not sure we need that in spoiler tags tbh, it's quite clear in the trailers.

I went to Alien Day yesterday, made up I got to see Alien on the big screen. Even Prometheus didn't seem as bad as I remembered it. There was a 10 minute trailer for Covenant at the end and it looked brutal! I really can't wait for it now.

my local cinema has finally started taking bookings for the midnight show on the 11th

With the Alien Superticket I get to see it at 8.30pm on the 11th! :D

I also went to see Prometheus and Alien with the super ticket, thoroughly enjoyed it. Infact, I seemed to enjoy Prometheus more than when Ive seen it before, Alien was obviously awesome even though Ive seen it soooo many times.

The Covenant sneak peeks:

*** Spoiler warning from the exclusive portion that was shown at the cinema, NOT The Crossing Prologue thats on youtube. *** Read at your own risk.

It started bad with Tennessee's joke about boobs, yes boobs...In an Alien movie. *Sigh* Then we had the back burster scene, which was good and gross as **** when the dudes spine came out and I was glad to see the parasite was quite small, believably small like the original baby Alien. Something which really annoyed me in the very end sequence of Prometheus when the alien - Deacon - burst out the engineer after being impregnated by the giant squid. That thing was huge, like how could that actually fit inside the engineer, it was ridiculous.

The bit I did not like though was when the parasite attacked Karine who was armed with a knife, she even booted the thing against the wall yet it still manages to kill her whilst its the size of a jack russell. Okay it was vicious but come on, you'd just grab it and stab it to death. Bit daft that bit I thought.

Although I did like the gun going off when she slipped on the blood, that was quite good. It was done just about right but only just so it didnt cross the line into tongue in cheek comedy.

The second death with the neck burster was pretty boring I thought, not enough suspense, shock and disgust. It just burst out and ran away. Yawn, come on Ridley, try harder. I want you to shock the **** out of me, like what it must have been like to see the Alien chest burster scene for the first time back in 1979, dont cheap out.

Looking forward to seeing the movie nonetheless.
