Yeah I completed this on the hardest release difficulty (Nightmare was added in a patch later). I took my sweet time and by the end, I'd spent 28 hours in-game according to Steam. That probably included menu time and alt-tab/pause time, but I doubt that was significant.
I rarely used the gun or the flamethrower, the working Joe's were too much of a challenge to take down. They took to much ammo to kill or I'd have to use various items to get just one. But I was happy with the difficulty. It got especially hard during the level where they were wearing those yellow suits. And the level that followed near the core... you know what bit. The **** came out of nowhere and were difficult to shoot since they were so small. I only got past by memorizing where they came from.
Good game, I'd recommend it. And it runs well on PC, I ran it pretty much maxed 1080p60 on my 3 year old gaming laptop a few months back. It makes the PS4 look powerful with how realistic the in-game environment looks. The only bad thing about this game is that the tension dies down the more you play it. Most people have quoted 11 hours as the mark when it stops being so scary and starts to feel annoying. Annoying since the Alien is getting in your way. Like most horror games, shorter is better, for less exposure to the creepy stuff keeps it scary.
