Alien: Isolation Trailer

Yes I think after you lower the difficulty you need to save your game, it then saves it with the new difficulty intact.

Ive found that sometimes instead of hiding everywhere at every noise, I just go as quick as I can straight to my destination, sometimes you simply get lucky that the Alien has simply missed you by chance.

Mission 6 I was stuck for ages where the corridor pipe blows up. Couldn't get round without it seeing me. Managed in the end but I reckon that is one of the hardest missions to get through.

Oh yep I remember that one too, that's actually the one where I dropped the difficulty I think before actually completing on hard.

Ah ok, not just me then, that was very hard part as there is not that many areas to hide in a small part of the ship and the alien knows you are about stalking the same area continuously.

Yes I started doing that eventually. I was skulking around hiding in every cupboard but I thought sod this and just slowly crept towards the objective and the alien paid little to no attention. It felt so easy!

Well just finished this on hard, pretty good overall with just some minor annoyances. Think I'll give nightmare a bash now, not sure how long I'll stick with it but what the hell :)

On mission 10 now, slowly getting there.

Mission 10 is long and at points you have to go for ages without a save point knowing the alien is on your trail!!

I will give this a go again on hard then, Normal was hard enough but as you say!

Has anyone else ordered at £15 from Base? How long did it take to arrive? I ordered last Friday and it still hasn't arrived :(

IIRC I ordered it on a Friday, and it arrived the following Thursday. Still have actually played it yet though /sigh.

Been playing this recently - albeit on easy mode so the alien doesn't appear that often. The game is scary enough without it! :D

I noticed during the first levels there are lots of areas off limits that require plasma torch or ion torch. I've just got the plasma torch now in mission 10. Does the game guide you back to those earlier levels or do you have to get on the transit system and go roaming round yourself?

I wish this game had an explore mode without any hostiles so that you could take your time exploring everything without fear of getting pounced on. There are probably so many things to check out but I'm more occupied with just doing the objectives in the campaign.

Yeah I completed this on the hardest release difficulty (Nightmare was added in a patch later). I took my sweet time and by the end, I'd spent 28 hours in-game according to Steam. That probably included menu time and alt-tab/pause time, but I doubt that was significant.

I rarely used the gun or the flamethrower, the working Joe's were too much of a challenge to take down. They took to much ammo to kill or I'd have to use various items to get just one. But I was happy with the difficulty. It got especially hard during the level where they were wearing those yellow suits. And the level that followed near the core... you know what bit. The **** came out of nowhere and were difficult to shoot since they were so small. I only got past by memorizing where they came from.

Good game, I'd recommend it. And it runs well on PC, I ran it pretty much maxed 1080p60 on my 3 year old gaming laptop a few months back. It makes the PS4 look powerful with how realistic the in-game environment looks. The only bad thing about this game is that the tension dies down the more you play it. Most people have quoted 11 hours as the mark when it stops being so scary and starts to feel annoying. Annoying since the Alien is getting in your way. Like most horror games, shorter is better, for less exposure to the creepy stuff keeps it scary.

I forgot to ask - do you get a gas mask at some point? There are at least two areas blocked by toxic fumes I've seen. I know you should be able to get past somehow as they've got Nostromo logs in.

You get the gas mask when you're on your way to consult with Apollo as there's one section there when you get close to the core that is filled with gas and you get the mask just before you enter that section.

Ta. I've just disembarked from the Apollo transit system now. I'm getting ready for the game to tell me the alien isn't really gone after all. :D
