Alien: Isolation...

expect the worst, hope for the best and avoid disappointment :)
I cancelled my preorder weeks ago not risking £38 on this (how much GAME want for the edition which includes their exclusive DLC) I will wait for player reviews as the last preview said the gameplay consists of a lot of sub puzzle type games & only 7 bullets in the entire game so not sure what type of game it even is!

Pure survival horror?
Survival action game?
Survival horror adventure game?

Its puzzling until gamers get their hands on this!

I'm confident that based on the evidence in my gut that this game will be awesome

Well for a change it has not been over-hyped in my view for such a big licence. It is a very brave idea, not the usual hoards of Aliens attacking. This game has just one Alien and you can complete it without killing anything.

It certainly will not suite shoot em up fans, in fact they will more than likely hate it. This is a game that will attract 1970/1980's Sci-Fi fans with the older type sets and equipment that would look dated today.

In my mind it will be a Marmite game. DLC is especially attractive to me and if it works well could breed a whole new concept to gaming.

Watch a film then do it yourself with your own ideas.

I had the chance to play a bit of Alien Isolation at Gamescom and its definitely the scariest game I have played for a while, if not ever lol.

Its was just a short mission where you had to try and sneak past the Alien using just the motion tracker and a flamer with a small amount of ammo, the flamer just scared it away momentarily so was not much good. You can hide in cupboards and stuff which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't depending on whether you press the right button/key to hold your breath when the Alien is lurking outside.

Its a pretty hard game anyway, I was chatting to one of the devs and apparently not many people managed to finish the mission, although they were only about 15 minute slots of time to play. I certainly didn't finish it anyway, just got eat a lot lol. If you are a fan of the first film its worth getting a copy.

I do have a pre order but now its gonna be included on AMD's new Never Settle Space Edition I'm gonna try and pick up a coupon code and get it that way instead.

Is this being developed for Oculus now or has it been cancelled? I read it was being developed for it, then was cancelled, then was back on...

As great as it looks so far, I'm not sure just how much of a game you can make out of the concept? Survival horror games are pretty popular right now, however, part of the fun is not quite knowing what's going on, variety of enemies and mysteries to solve. Here we already know what's going on and who we're up against and fact it's only one enemy. I'm sure there will be some spins on the story and extra things to fight against but will wait to see how it all gets put together. I can't imagine this will be a very long game either but I will be more than happy to be proven wrong!

Another game version of "The Thing" could work brilliantly now...
