Alien: Isolation...

Are you guys not ruining the game for yourselves by watching others play it?

I love these games for the story, so would hate to ruin it by pretty much reading the last page.

Played this for a couple of hours this afternoon, I am finding it a bit slow atm for my taste but hope it's just easing me in gently before it really kicks off.

I agree, it does look a bit boring. Im sure its good at first but once you die a few times it will no longer be scary.

Looks like a great environment/engine for other games though. New system shock anyone??

82% meta critic isn't 6/10 average globally. IGN gave it the lowest score and their review is deeply flawed, seen as the guy criticised the aliens AI for being too unpredictable, when it's the major selling point of the game!

The IGN review actually makes a lot of sense, it wasn't badly written imo.

Game just seems a bit overhyped.

He also played it on Hard.

People playing the game are giving 8/10.

It didn't, as it also criticises the game for issues that are solved in the 401mb day 1 patch. Should get re-reviewed imo.

It doesn't matter how good this game might end up being, there will be a core of people who detest the hype train and have probably made their minds up to hate it regardless.

I'm avoiding any possible reviews until the release on Tuesday, want to play it untainted by others opinions.

I've read the reviews and most I've laughed at and a handful even contradict themselves but you will always get that with modern day reviews.

Gone are the days when you'd look forward to picking up the latest copy of CVG or PC Gamer or even Games Master and reading the review which was usually always spot on and then proceeding to look forward to the game release.

These days reviewers can afford to be lazy and opinionated without having to worry about being right or wrong because they can ignore the backlash on the most part unless it's something serious (Gamergate :p).

Still, having seen the atmosphere in HD videos of the gameplay and the kind of gameplay on offer (elements of Last of Us mixed with Dead Space) I know I'll be enjoying it a lot the same way I knew having seen the Dead Rising 3 gameplay videos that I'd enjoy that too.

Reviews in general are subjective and therefore flawed anyway.

I dont care if a review says lamb tastes nice, I think it tastes like **** but others think its the tastiest meat of all the meats.

I only know it tastes like **** by tasting it :p

Mmmmmm, meat...
