Alien: Isolation...

Is this worth a shot? Seeing mixed reviews so i'm a bit cautious. Love the first two Alien movies, hope this game does them justice finaly.

Yes. Imo it is one of the best games ever made. The 'mixed' reviews I guess would be IGN? A review that pretty much the whole internet has called them out on!

It is a worthy sequel to Alien, and is as much canon as the movies. It fits in so well in the universe.

Overall, I like the save sysem, but it really needs the addition of saving after cutscenes, as often if I died just after one it would make me go through it again, which is simply poor design.

Just completed this on hard (I feel really stupid playing this on hard first time).

The ending was meh but the game is amazing. Loved it, don't play on hard though because the alien always knows where you are... more annoying than scary in places.

Sneaky Alien jumped down from a vent right when I was saving, at the last beep from the save point I heard the Alien hiss so I know it saw me, I had to choose cancel and face my inevitable doom. I was worried if I chose save it would load the game again with an Alien over my shoulder and I won't be able to progress without getting my brains eaten the moment I start.

PC games with headphones at 2am and 3am in the morning are not always a good combination. In other words I bottled it, got scared and stopped playing :D

Just so you know.....the save feature does not save the AI of the Alien and/or its position.......if you saved and it is right on your tail, you can reload the game and the Alien starts over again and it wont be right behind you.

But it does save the androids so be careful with that, if they were right there when you saved, they'll be there when you load.

Is anyone else getting sick of the lack of save facility in this game? I just had to replay "Reactivate Samuels Communication" part about a dozen times, as I kept getting killed by the robot guys when I exit the vending machine room.

Finally tonight, I get past it.... do 3 puzzles, head out the door I came in and "BAM" mr robot kills me again, and I'm right back at the start of the level again.

Is there any way to kill those robots? I might have to stop playing this as the lack of save facility and the invincible robots are having me repeat the same thing over and over and over...
Nine times out of ten there's a rewire circuit around and you can deactivate the air purification systems allowing you some cover. That part I think I ran with them all in tow and used the air vent in the floor to vanish and exit elsewhere to be able to peg it to the save point by the lift. If I'm thinking of the same spot.

Damn this game is hard! I'm sure it;s been said many times here but I'm sure the thing has a 6th sense! lol! Kudos to the devs. So, how many of you have chosen to knock the difficulty down? does it make a difference? I'm becoming tempted I have to say.

I really can't get into this game. I'm at the first bit where people are trying to kill me and I'm getting bored working out how to get past it.

Gotta say this game is superb!

Apart from the excellent visuals and audio, the atmosphere is amazingly tense. This is the first time I've played a game feeling like I'm the prey being hunted.

I'm only a couple of hours in and playing on medium. Seen the Alien once and ran away like the chicken human I am :)

Are you sure about the position thing? I completed it yesterday and at one point I was saving the game and literally a second later the Alien killed me by impaling me with the tail.

When I reloaded he was behind me still but I had enough time to spin around and use my flame-thrower and he scuttled off.

Overall though I thought the game was great. They ret-conned the story with actual thought (unlike Colonial Marines), so much so that it fills in one plot hole between Alien and Aliens
Why the beacon stopped transmitting from the Derelict

I completed it on Hard. I can see myself playing it again sometime in the next 6-12 months to mop up some achievements (I've got 43/50). It's annoying when some are mutually exclusive such as 'Completed the game without killing any Humans' and the the 'kill 10 Humans' one.

It did sort of outstay it's welcome towards the end. After the
Nest/Reactor
bit. I was playing it at 11 p.m. last night pondering if I would have time to watch Alien immediately afterwards and then didn't finish it for another 4 hours or so! They really drag some bits out in the last few chapters.

The actual station though is a character in itself really. I must say I was never really lost but also didn't feel if I was being funnelled a certain way, so the level design was spot on. As somebody else said it's good advice to use the map, and there's a lot of 'blink and you'll miss it' screens which update your map with locations so they are helpful.

Another bit of advice is use the Vents, a lot. I didn't see an Alien in the vent once in the entire game. Though once or twice it did pull me out of one....

Graphics were surprisingly good. Decent fire effects and things like that. I made some graphical tweaks to the .ini which improved things as well.

I'll have to try the DLC missions now which came with the AMD rewards key.

Doing the same type of thing is not the same as doing the exact same thing.

If you are doing the exact same thing and dying then it's probably the wrong approach, try going a different route or making a distraction.

If you are at the part I think you are, try banging on the wall with the jack to lure them into a different area then kill them one by one with a crack to the head :D
