Aliens : Colonial Marines - FPS ( They're back ! )

everything he says in that video is true...

why do people still preorder when it isnt a physical copy? I mean the only reason I would ever preorder is if there was a chance a game might sell out on launch day

Still, like he said, have patience.
Does it matter if you don't get the game on launch day? Could you not wait till the next day to pick it up?

Back onto topic, the game sucks, uninstalled, glad the download was only 6gb and didn't purchase it.

If I was Ridley Scott, I would be so disappointed in the devs for making such a heap of crud and doing nothing positive to the Alien franchise.

I'd even openly announce that I had nothing to do with the production of the game (I know he probably didnt anyway but I'd set the story straight to the fans/public so they know this was all Gear Boxs doing and not his).

The devs should hang their head in shame and go make a childrens Wii U game. Im a huge fan of the Alien movies and was looking forward to the game but my god have they made a complete shambles of this.

I stopped preordering games a while back. It's not like the game will sell out and, more often than not, you're left with a nervous wait hoping the postie brings it on the morning of release. How much of a mug do you feel when you preorder a game and it doesn't turn up?

The lack of reviews and absence of a demo, coupled with the lengthy and troubled development of the game, all pointed to Colonial Marines being a stinker.

I said before that I'd been burned by AvP 2010 and DNF, glad I gave this one a miss..

TB rules in that vid. He is so right. I am so glad i didnt preorder or buy when it was released. I mean i might buy for a fiver in a steam sale but i mean come on its no where near 30 quids worth of game is it.

To me this game screams of needing physx imo it needs ragdol kinda stuff so the fluid and motion of the aliens is at its best. Also imo the gfx which arnt too bad i admit could do with having at least better animations and maybe higher res textures. The lighting seems fine to me tho which is key in a game such as this.

Also no 1st person view for the aliens seems weird. It was hard i admit but it was so cool of a feature in one of the previous avp games i think pre 2010 that it should have been done. 3rd person looks like crap.

The animations tho is the biggest fail imo. They use melee i.e hands to kill humans instead of stealth, jaw or whip instant kill attacks. Aliens should never be a use hands and walk up to them and fist fight with a marine. It looks so stupid. Also i really think making new classes for a game is stupid i mean look at that blind (hmm arnt all aliens blind anyhow) use that walking animation ppl lol at all the time since shown, is so stupid. Classic warrior alien and queen and face hugger is all you need in a alien game. Dont try to add new things just do the classics well and you would have been golden sega.

Well, after all the crap I had to put up with installing this game and getting it to work am finding it really enjoyable now! I played the first mission on badass and died a few times in the hanger. After that, I had tea and started a game but in COOP, found 3 other cool guys who didn't speak for the first two maps but out of the blue started to speak.

We all laughed ourselves stupid at the stealth part when one of us or all of us would blow up when the Aliens rushed us, my sides were hurting after that map. :p We did about 6 maps till the Host had to go.

Sure, the graphics are not great and the alien AI seems a bit dumb at times, but gameplay wise when you with a team it's a lot of fun L4D style. I think they did a good job at that.

Haven't done MP yet, but will do soon.

I quite enjoyed AVP2010 as the marine as on hard it was a real challenge, despite its flaws. It also looked rather good in DX11 mode with all the bells and whistles enabled. The online modes for it weren't that great though sadly and got boring very quickly, although infestation was a good laugh every once in a while.

I've read numerous reviews and watched a few of the video versions and this looks seriously pants. I laughed at a scene where the dropship got destroyed and it just split into a few large pieces of basic brown polygons with no detail at all, with an appalling 2D explosive fire effect to boot...

IGN think that the game will have a tonne of DLC for the multiplayer to actually make it fun, which is a complete no go for me, especially if the game is poor to begin with. In a game like DNF, having loads of weapons at once makes more sense as its not based on anything but pure carnage and over the top violence. Aliens CM is based on a film though, where the marines didn't have 10 weapons each with daft amounts of ammo for each, which ruins the atmosphere imo. Coupled with the fact that the aliens in this are next to useless, especially compared to the previous games, it just crys of "hold your hand console gameplay" at its finest.

Look at AVP1 for example. If the aliens got in melee range, you was dead. In AVP2 is was slightly more forgiving due to larger, more open level design, yet the elevator section in particular as the marine still shows that its a "melee range and you are dead" sort of game, which is great. AVP2010 wasn't like this until you put it on hard, then it became a good game (imo!). This just looks pants :S

That my friend is false.

You can tail whip, use stealth and jaw kill as well as other types of kills which unlocked by ranking up and unlocking specail xeno abilities.

False in some sense maybe but aliens in films used to charge and use their mouth never their hands afaik. From the mp vids and such they seem to just run up and wack you with their hands which is far from alienisk imo.

It's the lack of respect for the source material that's got me riled tbh. Hadley's Hope is apparently mysteriously not destroyed by the nuke, Hicks is somehow back from the dead, and aliens totter around like geriatric old ladies.

Anyone prepared to ignore all that isn't a bloody Aliens fan.

Bah, I was hoping for better for this  but i'll probably pick it up when it goes on the cheap.

I'm a big Aliens fan and I quite enjoyed the AVP2010 marine playthrough despite the title being a low budget affair. Cost me 17 quid delivered at release yet looks like this would cost me 28 or so for what seems like a similarly low budget effort.

The Wii U pre order price ? LOL - roll on steam sale for a fiver please :D
