Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

A damp clean microfiber cloth and just wipe in circles. The streaks will fade as they evaporate, or better yet use a dry microfibre to them wipe away the any streaks to a perfect gloss

Yes, I clean my MFs every so often so just wring out the water so it's damp then wipe the screen with that, then dry any streaks off using a dry MF.

Enjoying the monitor but after coming from a 34" ultrawide I cant help but wish it was a bit wider only with the same height. Surprised no one makes monitors like this other than Samsung and their 57" monster.

Edit: Wow the VRR flicker is bad with Gsync enabled, what a massive disappointment. I may have to send it back and get a different monitor because I value Gsync massively and there is no way I'm putting up with this flickering when playing games. £1000 monitor and the Gsync on it is basically worthless, what on earth

what game has flicker? I only noticed it on the initial loading of stalker 2 but it stops after a few seconds.

I think I read if your framerates not fairly stable you get flicker.

set monitor technology in nvidia control panel to whatever option isn't g-sync.
then under vsync there should be an option for VRR.

see if that works better

btw isn;t Gsync premium dead now so gsync compatible is all we will get going forward?

Hunt Showdown, Arena Breakout Infnite, Tarkov, iRacing, ACC

Literally every single game i've tried. Framerates are in the 100's as well.

Will try what you suggested and yeh full Gysnc (with the module) doesn't seem to be a thing anymore.

Gsync premium (ultimate) was never a label in nvidia control panel, it's always been listed as "gsync compatible " - All Ultimate is was a dedicate dmodule that was better for HDR during its years of release until monitors started to get proper HDR certification. The rest was just a lightly wider lower VRR range and aditional testing by Nvidia to certify etc.

Essentially all modenr game releases have unstable frametimes, and one of two things, or both, result in VRR flicker, unstable frametimes and certain shades of grey as seen in most games these days, silent hill 2 being the latest.

If you have a powerful GPU then you can just disable gsync/vrr as mentioned earlier and never see VRR flicker again. They will fix it from factory eventually.

Under this context, this is what works best as tested in every single game I have played the last few months.

Then individually framerate cap each game to whatever runs best consistently if needed to completely flatten the frametime line.

if you have a lower GPU then you will probably want to keep VRR enabled to keep the frame motion/sync performant. Any other Vsync mode such as half refresh rate isn't really geared for high fps gaming, as digital foundry has talked about in recent videos, if targeting a 3-60fps range for a stable frametime then in games like silent hill may be an option but you risk introducing frame panning judder or additional latency in the process depending on the game.

Anyone running the AW2725DF? Tempted to pick it up on the black friday deal + work discount for ~£550, but also torn on waiting for a 3rd gen WOLED 27", but then you go down the whole DP2.1 rabbit hole...

Wondered how others are getting on? Any issues with eye strain?

I've got one, initially bought at launch in Feb but returned that one as the eye strain was ruining me.

Ended up giving it another go in April and ordered again and have been using it every day since April as my main monitor (alongside a 25" 240hz 1080p IPS monitor). No issues with eye strain on this version outside of what I'd experience normally by staring at a spreadsheet for 12 hours straight.

I'm not sure whether it was a firmware update, running it with slightly warmer colours and a lower brightness (warm preset, brightness at 71%, contrast at 79%) or whether it was just a bit of an unlucky panel the first time round but since getting it in April I've used it so much without any of the issues I had initially. I love it, fantastic for the games I play (The Finals, F1 24, OW2, Horizon etc.) and it's been no issue for working with either. The text clarity for me isn't an issue unless I really look for it and it's worlds better than what I had on the 240hz LG OLED. I'm sure the latest 480hz WOLEDs fix that with the updated sub pixel layout but really wasn't good on the 1st gen release.

360hz is great and 1440p is ideal as a resolution for me because I can still drive higher frame rates with my hardware and I'm sort of limited to 27" with my current set up.

My only frustration is the 2 DisplayPort inputs (rather than 2 HDMI) and the gimped HDMI 2.1 that's actually HDMI 2.0. Not a real problem as I run my PS5 at 4k60 (rather than 4k120 because I'm not playing high fps games on console) but a little ****** from Dell to market it as the 2.1 spec, and annoying to have 2 displayport inputs as it means I have to run DP to USB-C for my work laptop.

Pixel cleaning is great too, I honestly never realise it's even occurred as it runs every 4 hours (that the panel is on) and I typically try to take a break from work every 2 hours for 10/15 minutes and it'll have run in that time. The only time I ever see it actually running a pixel clean is when I switch it off at the end of the day.

£550 is a great price, I got mine for £616 (also with a discount + work discount) but I really can't fault it.

I think eye strain is going to be subjective and it's worth trying to see if you're impacted by it - and Dell's service/return policy etc. are all fantastic in the UK. I'd be pretty worried buying an ASUS monitor and having to deal with their customer service whereas with Dell there's a level of confidence in dealing with them.

My one was delivered this morning. Need to set up and spend some time with it.

How did you overcome eye strain . Not sure if I had set up something incorrectly or I need to get used to it but it's bad atm.

You'll definitely find that it'll get better after a few days as your eyes get used to it - but also don't be afraid to tweak settings.

I found that the 'warm' preset made a huge difference, same with reducing sharpening to 50 and brightness down to 71 all helped (and contrast at 79). I actually drop the brightness lower to 55/60 in the evenings if I'm playing games when it's dark but that's all personal preference.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, really useful! Ended up pulling the trigger and ordering last night :D

Will drop a reply back here when it arrives

I’m having issues with this monitor.

- Sometimes it refuses to wake up after my computers gone to sleep
- sometimes it does wake up but I’m greeted with a completely green or glitched screen which requires a restart to fix

Also should the pixel refresh kick in automatically ? Because at the moment there is no reminder to run it, which means I have to remember to manually activate it every few hours.
