Alienware announces the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (worlds first 4k 240hz and worlds first 1440p 360hz QD-OLED monitors - launches January 2024)

I checked my 27" model very closely when it arrived. There was marks on the screen when it arrived but they weren't scratches, atleast not on my panel. Rather than using a protective film on the screen like most manufactures I've bought from Dell are using what is is like a piece of bubble wrap taped to the front. Once removed there are some smudges left from where the bubble wrap was in contact with the screen. It's not really a big deal and they easily wipe off with the cloth provided by Dell.

Yes, this is how my AW2725DF arrived packaged too, which I very carefully unpacked, and it wasn’t until Day 2 of use that I noticed a couple of smudges on the screen and some on the frame.

These cleaned off thankfully with a microfibre cloth but I agree that the bubble wrap stuck to the front of the screen is perhaps not ideal and they should be using the usual plastic film that other monitor manufacturers use. The screen did come in a plastic cover as well so that should have been sufficient to protect the screen.

I will be contacting Dell to complain about the screen packaging and I suggest everyone else does too if they have similar marks and smudges.

the stuck on bubble wrap cover seems to be the standard for these new QD-OLED monitors. Asus used it on their PG32UCDM too, and i assume it is something to do with the panel finish that makes the use of the stuck on plastic cover impractical or problematic. A few marks and smudges that can be easily rubbed off doesn't seem like a major problem, although my AW2725DF arrived perfectly clean

My PG48UQ had a film to remove, but like you say maybe the QD has a more 'sensitive' panel to it. Although doesn't the G95 have one? I think it does.

My AW27" was also ideal out of the box, no marks or smudges. I saw some horror pictures online and was a little worried but no issue for me.

I will say that the pixel refresh feature on the 27" AW has been brilliant and until last night I hadn't even realised it was running as it seems to kick in as soon as I switch things off.

I played games for a few hours, switched it off and went to bed - then remebered I wanted to leave my PS5 on rest mode to download a game so quickly nipped back to the study. Saw the monitor power switch was flashing yellow, switched it on and it said 'Pixel refresh currently running, do you want to delay and run later'. I don't ever play games / use the monitor for stints longer than 2/3 hours so it seems like it's been doing it every time I switch the monitor off!

Samsung's own S90C has a film so realistically should be no reason not to have one, especially on the glossy panels could maybe understand on matte screens cause of coating

So it`s all unboxed and set up, only two smudges on the screen and they cleaned off with some lens wipes easily enough.

First impressions......fantastic, the colours are vibrant and the whites are brilliant white without the halo effect you get with IPS panels and it has better clarity too, coming from the Gigabyte M32U I didn`t expect the difference to be so marked but there`s no way I could go back to IPS for gaming now.

I have the lg 27 oled and wondering if this is worth the upgrade. Can sell my lg on a popular auction site to offset the cost

120 extra hz

Issue I have with current lg monitor is brightness

I can't comment on the brightness as I always run monitors at 20/25% brightness and even with the AW27" I'm running it at 50% - but for the refresh rate I'm not sure 360hz is a huge leap from 240hz. I always played FPS games on a 240hz 1080p monitor and I did find that 240hz was smoother than 144hz and could notice if I ever swapped to using a lower refresh monitor.

Moving to 360hz and I'm really not noticing a big difference with how it feels from from 240hz. The biggest thing I'm noticing is clarity in movement but I think that's more likely moving from IPS to OLED rather than the extra 120hz.
